[Keep in mind this might be a bug and not intended, or ninja hotfix from blizzard]
Someone told me there was an exploit going on and i went to do some test. I wrote down what i found on a related post on the blizzard forum, but i tought i'd come share it here too.
My message from the forum :
Ok, i did some testing on my own after reading this and i feared something about the way the +exp affix when you kill monster works and the new legendary gems.
Keep in mind that this is done very quickly with very few kills, but hey, math formula if they works at low number, they'll work at high numbers, right? (usually...)
Ok, here's the thing. It's all about the +exp on gear affix. Some dudes done the maths on reddit, and people came to the conclusion that the + exp on gear affix is nearly useless since the difference is abysmal-ly small. Im not going in details on how the new legendary gem (from season 2) works, but we knew it was not going to work like the + exp used to work.
I feared that this exploit might be related to this gem and that blizzard screwed up (or maybe on purpose? ) the formula.
How the formula used to work : the exp from gear was ADDED at the END of the formula. So a piece of gear with +141 exp and a monster giving (at final) 8 700 exp, would be giving 8700+141 so 8841 exp. (Base exp x all bonus%) + exp on gear = exp you gain
How it's working at this moment that im writing this, they changed that so the +exp is added BEFORE all the bonus multiplier.
Here's some numbers i tested in game.
Normal zombie with no bonus exp at all : 8700 exp.
Normal sombie with +141 exp : 8841 exp.
Normal zombie with +25% exp (leoric signet) : 10 875
Here's the fun thing.
Normal zombie with +141 exp and +25% : 11 051
What the number should be (or used to be before ninja hotfix from blizzard) is : 11016 (10 875 + 141)
But instead, if you add 25% of 141 to the mix... (or 8841 x 25%) it does gives 11051.
Now, it might looks like very insignifiant numbers, but that was tested in normal, at 0% exp/%exp.
If you go with a full set of gear with +exp and %exp, in T6... well... it goes up crazy fast.
I'll go check on T6 and see what the numbers end up at. More info coming up soon (hopefully :p)
P.S. My math might be wrong, it's 3am here....
tl;dr Get as much +exp on gear as you can, your exp will go up crazy fast.
Edit : Ok, just did some test againts zombie act 1 on T6, pretty interesting numbers
No bonus exp (basic 1600% bonus) : 147 900 exp (8700 X 17)
Zombie with +141 exp from gear : 150 297 exp (so thats +2397 or 141 x 17)
Zombie with +141 exp and 25% (leoric) : 152 507 (+4607 exp, now why that much? i cannot say)
So yeah guys... get as much + exp on gear as you can because now it's basicly X 17 the number written on the item. And im not even going to try to figure out why it almost doubled with only +25% exp, i'll leave that to other people )
For info, the same zombie with only +25% bonus was giving me 150 075 exp
End of my message on the blibli forum.
Now correct me if im wrong, test it out on your end and all that. I might be totaly wrong on this too
I'm going to test out with some more + exp on gear and a ruby gems in head and see what comes up.
(And yes, i am not english, so deal with it ^^ )
Edit 2 : Ok, just tryed out with some left over gear i had. So that was + 102.9% exp and + 639 exp from gear.
Keeping in mind a normal zombie with no bonus at T6 gives : 147 900 exp.
With that new gear, i ended with 168 373 exp per mob, which is +20 473 exp instead of a usual 2k'ish exp.
Now, if you get your legendary gear with +200 exp on all of them (13 item slot) and your Merc too...we're talking about easy couple hundred of thousand more exp per mob. Thats pretty crazy if you ask me.
And no, it's not only in greater rift since... well... I tested on zombies act 1 .
There's a lot of talk about XP exploits because people don't realize what's going on. It's kind of telling... with all the exploits we've seen, people stopped believing that there can be any legit and perfectly fine game mechanics at work...
If you want max paragon what you do is run GR35-GR40 speed runs (only makes sense if you can clear it in less than 5 minutes, otherwise go T6). Get bonus experience on as many secondaries as you can without sacrificing DPS. Best group setup is Raekor barb + EP monk + 2 DHs. That's how people are getting insane amounts of XP (over 30b per hour).

The 152507 EXP is easily explained:
Total Exp = (Base Exp + Bonus Exp)*(1 + %Bonus from Torment + %Bonus from gear) = (8700+141)*(1+16+0,25) = 152507,25
Edit ok! Found it! But still, thats a pretty darn big change.

Of course this needs decent gear though.
