Right now, Loots Runs are expected (unless it has changed) to last around 15 minutes. Monsters are fully randomized. The dungeon, lightning effect and mini-boss as well.
I proposing a few changes/additions that would make Loot Runs more fun, IMO.
=> Upon defeating the Mini-boss or whatever is at the end of the Loot Runs, a Portal opens up. If you click on it, you will be asked if you want to start another Loot Run.
This is important, IMO, because it will happen that we join a Loot run that is almost complete. It would suck to leave the game and search for a new one (and re-entering the same one!) We will be able to stick around and keep our Stacks for the next run. If we have a good party, we could even continue for a long time.
=> Random Events inside the Loot Runs. "Crypt-like" dungeon? Well, add in the Jar of Soul, Matriarch's bones or the Ruthe Family inside the run.
=> Randomly placed Merchants inside the run. They will be able to Identify all, salvage and sell. It would reduce the downtime of each run
=> Have destructible that spawn elites (They should not be obvious).
=> Treasure Goblins inside chests!
=> Have "Ambush/Traps". For example, when your team enters a room, the doors could close (if everyone is inside the room --- you cannot go to the next room until the trap has been sprung) and a "Jar of Soul type" event would trigger. You need to survive 5 minutes against an increasing amount of monsters! At the end of the duration, a mini boss will spawn. While the boss is alive, new monsters will spawn (those ones don't give XP to prevent abuse --- the ones prior the boss will give XP and loots). After defeating the boss, you will get loots and rewards!
Another example could be... well, it's somewhat inspired from the first gameplay video of Diablo 3. You run around killing monsters and "suddenly", the wall beside you shatters and a Siege Breaker charges in. That would instantly add spice to the run. Runs would be really unpredictable! AND FUN... well, maybe not to much for HC players!
=> Random Environment traps. It could be Demonic Force, Demonic Mine, Moonseed, Axes, Firewall, whatever.
Add your ideas!

Well, good suggestions on some fun stuff like merchants / surprise elites, but ATM they plan to make you pay for a loot run with a loot run token (info taken from all the datamined info).
It's because of this that I believe they are really going to buff LR's as it is, because you can't just join one without getting into a party for one / using a token. It's unknown whether everybody needs a token to enter.
Having said that, I don't believe opening a portal straight into another one would work / be a good idea. They are supposed to be a reward for playing the regular game, not something you just do over and over again without touching the rest of the game.

So much this. The goal is for these things to be a "bonus" and not the status quo. They're not going to make a single change that completely invalidates the rest of the game in terms of farming.
Well, if Tokens are required, you would need a token to continue. I highly doubt that people are only going to use 1 token at the time. They are most likely going to stack them up and do it with friends.

I guess tokens could be obtained much like the organs are in fighting the Ubers. But then I suppose you run into the issue of rewarding the rich or high-tier players (those who play on high MP) and not having the chances of them dropping equally for everyone.
EDIT: Grammatical errors.

That risk exists in all facets of life. You're going to have to get over it. I'm not specifically targeting you, instead I'm referring to the group of people with that mindset. If it's not the 'rich' that people are worried about in a game like this, then the next group to impune are the people with more time on their hands then others.
Almost nothing is ever truly fair. I'd also like to bring up the fact that the entire point of this game is to get better gear than the next guy. The reward of that is being able to play the game better / faster. Instead of worrying about other people, instead focus on these gameplay aspects actually being FUN.
Edit; sometimes I lol at this sites auto-correct, and how it doesn't know words such as impune =P

You're absolutely correct about that, and I definitely know that it's just the harsh reality that exists. I guess you just have to look at it from different perspectives, and this will work best if Loot 2.0 turns out to be as good as they say.
Negative perspective:
- "F***in Blizzard always catering to those who win, why can't they look at the little guys for once, those who aren't as lucky with loot!"
Positive perspective:
- "I like how Blizzard are rewarding those who can play at higher MP's, given that Loot 2.0 is as good as it is, this encourages me to play more so I have a chance of getting great loot from drops. Then I'll be able to experience what the all the rage is about"
Of course lets be realistic, we know what the community is like with issues like this. Some players are bound to have a cry either way.
EDIT 1: Accidentally posted it half way through making it, haha.
EDIT 2: I just realized how ridiculous that positive perspective looks, hopefully my point gets across though.

Um... speaking of "fairness", I think Loot 2.0 is going to reward those who plays the game the most (and if you trade as well).
Nephalem Trials are supposed to reward you for being stronger (aka Events similar to Jar of soul = More XP and More Loots for being stronger). I think that's the way to go. As you become stronger, you will be rewarded more by achieving better score. If you can't do it alone, you team up with others to get a better score.
I like the idea of seeing goblins coming out of chests
How about Goblins that come with 1 elite Monster (blue) guarding them?
Um... this somehow reminds of a specific event in the Spider Cave. You had to beat a relatively easy purple spider (would be fun if it was actually harder). After defeating it (well, you don't need to), you can click on a cocoon and a Goblin will run away.
Perhaps there could be a similar event --- Upon defeating a spider mini-boss, eggs hatches and many goblins start running away in opposite direction.
I have an Idea for Loot runs that has to do with Rare packs.
Blues - Champions
Yellows - Elites
Purples- Unique(Bosses)
This is how it stands now.
What if during a loot run there was a very rare chance that it would spawn a Legendary pack that had maybe an extra affix or had a specific affix only legendary packs can have(enrage timer maybe =P)
They would be tough to take down but would have a guaranteed Legendary or Set drop and would grant you an extra Loot Run Token. So now it would look something like this:
Blues - Champions
Yellows - Elites
Purples- Uniques (Bosses)
Rust/orange- Titans

Also I think the Legendary rare pack's (titans) extra affixes should be just as interesting as the Legendary affixes on the loot 2.0 weapons.
For example:
- an affix that breaks some of your armor
- affix that cancels out one of your skills at random
- affix that cancels out your equipped gems
- affixes that are taken directly from weapons
These are just some Ideas to make the fights tense and fun while also providing some lols =) The amount of creative affixes you can come up with are endless.

Nice idea. Maybe it could be applied to treasure goblins too, which would then have a guaranteed legendary.
Obviously it would be hard to kill, as it had more health and maybe abilities like vault, teleport or some traps.
Ah ha! This gave me another idea =),
What if there was a very rare chance that a treasure goblin named Rumpelstiltskin( or something similar) would spawn during these loot runs.
Rumples mechanics:
- He would have no Health bar
- Would have random health (within certain limits of course)
- Would drop no loot
- Upon being hit he would gush massive (and I mean massive!) amounts of gold for how ever long you chased him. But if he portals out of the world you will pay a terrible cost.
- Cost of letting him escape would be: All the gold you collected from him would vanish and all your equipment would be destroyed down to zero. (but repairable)
- Has a very rare chance to drop a golden spinning wheel which would act as a charm granting you a 1% chance that when gold stack drops the amount is increased 1000% percent. ( edit: Chance to drop while being chased, not upon death)
So the idea of Rumples is kind of like Chicken(dangerous car racing activity), you chase him as long as possible gathering as much gold as you can before you lay the hammer down and destroy him. Wait too long to kill him and you could lose everything and more.
Kill him too fast and you lose out on massive wealth. Balance and timing.
I believe this to be very fitting, just look to the story of Rumpelstiltskin and you'll see =3
