Days ago, I saw a piece of news from Salediablo3.com, "What causes you AFK Diablo 3", which is really a serious question worth deep thinking. It seems we (at least me) have less and less friends online, so what do you think is the real reason? What does the Blizzard need to improve?
When I log in and not at game. Just life in general. Something sparks my interest, gf called, someone else called, door, tv or music grabs attention. But at night the number one thing is i get sleepy. Sleepy not good in hardcore. So I go lay on couch and take nap while my char is in menus. Refreshed when i wake I go back to playing. Sometimes i end up sleeping most of night on the couch. Get up, check auctions, log out, go to bed.
Are you talking about why you are in game and get called away, or why you stopped playing diablo 3 altogether?
I'll answer both:
AFK-Typically it's my kids or the stupid roofer door to door salesmen (big hail storm rolled through a couple months back and totaled everyone's roof in my neighborhood). Sometimes it's just liquid (dropping off or cracking a new one).
Playing Diablo less - I know the game is about gear grind, and typically that's enough for me, but I'm pretty sure that EVERYONE has far surpassed the point where a real drop is going to be an upgrade. The economy is so messed up and I know everyone blames the AH, but really I think that Bliz just missed the point. Having a game SOLELY based on gear grind just doesn't work anymore. The genre has been beat to death. There needs to be either something else to do or more dynamically created content. The whole Uber thing I thought was just absolutely amazing. When I first heard about it, the whole process seemed horribly tough (and I think it still is for some players) but I think that was part of the draw. I was playing around mp3 at the time which made the odds of getting a key at 30% (x4) and then ubers at 30% (x3) just to make one ring meant killing roughly 450 elites and then that ring invariably sucked I think anyone who's wanted a serious ring has made it to mp10 by now and has already mowed through enough content where I doubt any real players are doing ubers anymore unless they are doing charity mp10 carries or somehow trying to make money off it. Personally I can't wait for an endless dungeon.
TL;DR more end game content because the gear grind ended long ago.
First months or so I play a lot, then for a few months i play 3-4 nights a week.
Other people might frown upon this, but I actually like to think similarly
On topic: I don't think, real life issues really count in this. Other things are simply more important than gaming (sad truth, I know )
It's the gaming time that we don't spend on D3 anymore, that Blizz might (or might not) care about.
I, for one, have started playing The Burning Crusade (again!)

And may the odds be ever in your favour.

I'd respond further but I think it's time to go "afk" again.

Yep....my bad. Had you confused with a friend that's a member here. Good to meet you though :Thumbs Up:
Hope your recovery goes better. Glad to hear it wasn't hemorrhoids.
