I am currently playing d3 again after few months. I rolled a barbarian and farming goes pretty well.
But there is a problem: I don't really know, which armor and weapons to pick up. I always pick up jewelery/designs/legendaries ofc, but I am not sure about the other stuff.
So what is your technique?
Also, as I only know DH and barb classes, I often am unsure wether to vendor an item or try to sell it on the ah. Are there any guidelines written down somwhere?
There are several topics on this already if you do a search. Basically it depends on what you're trying to do. If you're looking to mostly just paragon level up then I would blow through everything and just pick up legendaries, ilvl 63 weapons, and jewelry. If you're looking to make money at the same time I would pick up every single yellow and orange you see. ID'ing and selling crap legendaries is still a more effective way of making money than blowing past all of them.
As to pricing, just go into your sell tab and right click on the item and do a "search for similar item" and remove the useless affixes and sort by lowest buyout price. If you really want to sell your item, list yours for 60% of the lowest buyout price. Even then some stuff doesn't sell.
Rings/Amulets/Gloves need to have at least 2 of the trifecta stats (Crit chance, Crit damage, Attack speed).
Anything with base stat+vit+armor+resist all will sell unless the numbers are low
Weapons need to be 900 dps or higher for 1h, 1200 or higher for 2h and they have to have good stats. If you don't have a couple of : life steal, high life on hit, crit damage, base stat, socket then 99% of the weapons are trash.
Bracers, Helms, and Off hand items almost have to have high crit chance (6, 6, and 10 I think)
Helms, pants, and chests almost need to have max sockets (1,2,3 respectively) to even be considered.
Did I miss anything? If you have a specific question let me know.
TL;DR:
Some people pick up nothing, some pick up everything. It's your choice. Seems like most people go with a "60+ rare" rule and leave some of the useless rares (2h weapons, offhand) on the ground all the time.
In terms of pricing, for rares just go to the AH and search for similar items, uncheck all the unimportant stats. Important are huge main stats 100+, allres, crit, ias. (Of course that's not exhaustive, but at least a start - TL;DR version.)
EDIT: Important notice: When you're playing at least MP1, all drops can roll level 63 stats. So there's almost no difference in a level 60 and 63 item (besides a bit less armor) - if you decide to play the lottery and pick up gloves to search for that one in a million trifecta thing that'll sell for billions, you might as well pick up Warlord gloves and not just Archon gloves.
