there was already a dupe a few patches ago, it turned out to be an issue due to the fact taht its beta (would not have been an issue in live) its very well this is the case here as well.
It exists, I just spent a few hours testing it earlier, using dyes, salvage items, gold, etc... found some pretty interesting things out about duping in D3.
The person who posted that topic originally had the exact method in it, though it doesn't even really require much effort to do, amazing no one posted about finding it before, someone probably knew about it and was using it, it's that easy to come across.

Welcome to Diablofans.com. Good first post talking about duping.

Thanks, I mostly joined JUST to talk about it, because I found it interesting.
The Blizzard forums are down as well, so not many other places to go post, not really sure if I'm going to tell people how to do it or not, it's really easy to get infinite gold and salvage mats with it, though I don't particularly care if people waste their time doing it in beta which will probably be wiped soon.
One thing I found is you can't dupe items and keep both, each item seems to have a unique item ID, if one person leaves the game with the item it crashes the game, and only the original remains, so duped items can't exist outside of the game they are made, but you could dupe them sell both to NPC or salvage them then get the original back.
Edit: (On top of keeping the gold/salvage mats gained)
Who knows? But it all deppends on the system that blizzard is going to use. if it is anything like diablo 2's way of hosting games and such than maybe yea it will be possible.
I can explain the method without telling how it works, but basically, I would leave the item in the game, and when I left and re-joined I would have my inventory exactly as it was when I first joined, so my character data didn't save for some reason when leaving the game like that, and resulted in a duplicate item being made.
However, if I leave the duplicate item, and then keep the original and try to leave the game again while keeping the item, it would crash the game for the other person in the game, and any duplicates he had disappear, only my original from the initial save stayed.
This worked no matter how many duplicates we made, I could go into the game give the item, then leave any number of times creating 999 duplicates, though if I or he tried to leave while keeping just 1 of the duplicates or the original, the game crashed and all disappeared but the original, the original always ended up in it's original inventory as well whoever had it at the start.
I kind of wish I had tested experience gain while doing this to see if it rolled back experience, meaning the character save was just rolling back.
why does everyone have to be so evil every time a dupe is uncovered.... TELL US TELL US!!!! lol i just want to try it once tbh, i was never capable of trying one.... apart from that easy one in d1 xD
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Working with adobe and/or java is like pushing a paper clip against a building and expecting it to move...
God I hope this isn't the case in release. Would spell disaster and disappointment for players who want to play properly .
Yeah, it was posted on the forums quite a while ago, I'm sure they'll fix it with the unreleased content stuff "soon".
I really hope nothing like this lasts into the actual game or the economy will be screwed, I only actually used it twice, once to turn 1.5k into 3.5k, then again to turn 3.5k into 11.5k, but the amount of time it took to do that was like 30-60 seconds, and that was only using 5-10 item stacks, if I used 40x stacks with the intention of abuse, you could make 100ks in minutes with the right preparation.
In the salvaging side you could dupe 40 rare items salvage for 40x essences/fangs, then get all the originals back and repeat over for infinite of those fairly quick as well.
Anyone that finds a way of duping and reports it certainly gets a thumbs up from me. It's those that find one and then don't report it that I don't like.
Duping most definitely ruined the D2 economy and a lot of the fun of the game, so I'm really hoping that Blizzard have enough systems in place to stop it from harming D3, especially when the RMAH is going to be involved.
They just removed the waypoints so people are going crazy and buying and selling dyes for like 30-50k each now, I found the vendor earlier, and spent 200 BB on gold and bought a couple stacks of them, then put them in AH for 1k (3x vendor price) each.
Someone bought me out then put them back in for 30k each, then 50k each, funny stuff happens in beta, there's really no point to trying to profit that much off all this.
I have to admit I love my full white/blue armor sets though, only benefit I cared for is awesome looking armor, since it's all getting wiped eventually. XP
BTW this duping method is VERY VERY easy to do and find, and requires no 3rd party programs, it doesn't even require disconnecting or hardly any effort, which is even more so why I was surprised it worked and no one had found it prior, which also makes it even worse that it actually works.
Edit: This is a random example and the method has nothing to do with crafting, but the amount of effort it takes to dupe is on the level of salvaging 1 item, it's something that simple. Amazing how it ended up causing dupes.
Personally I'd like them to do a character wipe now.
Noooo, my dyed armor, at least give me a week with it. T_T
I wouldn't mind as long as it accompanies patch 15 and/or release date, I had a bunch of rings, amulets, rares, and rare off hand sources that got buffed from last patch as well, almost a good thing they didn't wipe with patch 14, because now with dyes and other stuff they would have needed to wipe again already.
Though actually ,it would be quite entertaining for them to wipe now, and have the 9999999999 gold and betabucks people just made off dyes disappear, I'm down for it.
I personally think it's trolling. but if this is real, just wow
I guess we have to wait and see.
