yup. there will be assholes in D3 chat, like it or not. The problem isnt the game(s) that have assholes in them, the problem is the assholes themselves.

regardless if it is one person being the asshoel or not, removing options , private chat /ignore etc, to the player to have a social experience and a pleasant time in game should be included. To not do so is lazy.
people keep forgetting it is a beta and that they just recently started testing the public chat. give it time. have some patience. everything will be better, you just have to wait

The whole point of a beta test is for people to point out what isn't working and what needs to be fixed.
Chat channels aren't working. There needs to be an /ignore feature at the very least. The text needs to have more colors than just white so it can actually be readable. Large font and a large window needs to be an option. Those three changes would take chat channels from useless to usable and functional.
Beyond that, there are a bunch of other cosmetic and functional improvements people have already mentioned, but those three I mentioned are simple and really need to be taken care of before release.
I agree that there are some problems with chat channels as they are now, the main one in my opinion being that it really needs an ignore feature. That being said that GregS guy is completely incapable of expressing himself in any civilized manner. I've seen his posts on the forums and he spends his time verbally attacking Blizzard or anyone that doesn't agree with his narrow point of view.
People like him are the reason Blizzard are so hesitant to communicate changes with us.

I think it speaks for itself.
See ya on launch day.
