New Rune System Proposal, Combo of New and old systems
Would just like to quickly share an idea i had for a rune system, ill try to make it as quick as possible.
This new system would maintain the unattuned rune item drop, as well as maintain how the new rune system lets u switch skills/runes.\
so here's the process.....
3 Classes of unattuned runes, 1-3, Dropping in there corresponding difficulty, nightmare/hell/inferno. No rune drops in normal, we have enough choices biased on the lvl 30 skill unlocks.
when u use a level 1 unattuned rune on a skill it randomly unlocks one of the 5 rune types at level 1 (of 3). Now this rune skill is an OPTION, just like the current system.
So, u find another level 1 unattuned rune, if you use it on the same skill as before, you unlock a new skill rune option, without losing the last option, there unlocked and u can switch between them like the current system, but there of level 1 ( of 3) because u used a nightmare rune on it.
when you use a level 2 unattuned rune on the same skill, its random what skill rune you get, you may get a new effect at level 2 or u may replace your old level 1 effect with the more powerful level 2 effect, and so on.
I believe this type of system will give all players what there looking for, individuality, as well as linking the skill system with the item system again. This also greatly increases replay ability/grinding, but mainly it makes every Monk/Barb ect. different, right up to level 60 and beyond. Sure some people will spend the time to grind out runes in inferno to "max" out a classes skills, but it will also promote experimentation within the classes. This makes creating special builds a longer process, but a more rewarding one as apposed to just selecting the skills and skill runes u want at 60, you now have to work towards that build alittle harder.
