Blizzard is smart, we are not meant to download this client. Once you download the game they will have your ip. Then they will figure out your acc info for bnet. Then you might not be selected for the beta...idk
No dout this was an AMAZING find by the OP Deventh but be warned people.....blizzard is crafty
Blizzard won't care if you have the client realistically. If anything the people who do have it are likely to be the ones who would play d3 the most, and wouldn't need to download the client bogging down their servers when the beta is actually released. They didn't care with sc2, I don't see why they'd care with d3.
Blizzard is smart, and realizes the people who download the client now really aren't doing anything wrong and are just super excited about the game, so much so they are willing to download a 2gb file just to see a menu and be ready to go in the off chance they get into the beta.

I dont know if serious.
We have always downloaded beta clients earily... second... they cant do anything with your IP... you do know your IP is shared with other people with your same ISP... most people dont have static ip addresses. Nothing will happen, chill.
They wont have to find your bnet account info if you downloaded and ran the Beta profile tool program you've already "bound" your networkcard's MAC adress to that profile, and they could just match it up with info of who has connected too the client downloader.
I doubt they'll do that thou, but if your paranoid i'd dl the client on another pc than the one you ran the profile tool on Or atleast plug in another networkcard

I downloaded the sc2 client early. I got into the sc2 beta in like phase 3.
I figure it's pointless to download it now for nothing and it would provide me with zero benefit anyway. So even if there is some tiny chance people will get burned for downloading this (yet I doubt it), I will avoid it. I'll download it when I get accepted into the beta. It's only 2gb anyway.
Yeah don't worry about it. Ignoring all other reasons why they wouldn't make some form of blacklist (lol), THEY made the beta available and have NOT taken it down to the public.
They cannot link your IP to your account. IP doesn't mean one machine. You can have your IP today and tomorrow another of yout ISP's customer have it. They could require the information from your ISP to see who got the IP in what time, which IPs you had in the last 12 months and try to find out some of that IPs in the same time it was linked to your computed that accessed a battle.net account and whose account was that, so you could be banned. Do I need to explain why this is highly unlikely?
They can save you Ethernet MAC Address and check it with the D3 beta client, but I highly doubt that they put code in D3 beta to look at your MAC Address. I don't even think they do it in the Blizzard Beta opt-in tool.
It's "safe" to download this client (if from an authentic source). Just try to avoid trying to login with your battle.net, but even if you do I don't think anything will happen.
And I have not checked, but I don't think that there's in the disclaimer of your battle.net account that you could be banned if downloading a beta client from an official open link and trying to install it without being invited.
Uhhh, no. Do you think Blizzard cares if people are downloading a useless client right now? You think they would waste time/resources finding these people to punish them through denying them beta spots? You must be joking... I had the SC2 hacked beta long before I was invited to the test later on... in any case, if I get into beta, well it'll just be faster to log in...
People need to knock it off with the scare tactics. There's people that downloaded the Beta client, whoopdy freaking do.
Blue posters haven't come forth to say "hey there now you guys don't you download our stuff now!", and it's been 6-8+ hrs since the leak. If they were REALLY bothered by the leak, they'd have said something or warned people the consequences of downloading it before given the go-ahead. The argument "they didn't safeguard it better so it makes it right" isn't exactly a valid argument, but really in all honesty who wasn't surprised there'd be some kinda leak?
There's people causing harm, yes, by datamining and spoiling a whole bunch of the plot and other things. Those are the ones that suck. Given a tidbit, and taking a chunk instead. But then again, some people might've downloaded it earlier so that in the event they did get an invite, they'd be prepared. Not having to wait 1-2 hours to download the Beta files when you know you're flagged would ease the suspense/anticipation level. Plus, just think of how many people are gonna be downloading it once they have knowledge that Beta's gone live? A lot more than the people that were on top of all the recent info, that's for sure. Good to get it out of the way now as to not be stuck with the rest of the pack Beta goes live.
Personally, I think they should be proud/flattered/happy/impressed, etc that we're so devoted to being ready for their tests that we've already gotten our platforms ready for testing; all we need is the key/green light

Last time I checked it doesn't log your Mac address or IP address on the beta profile tool. It's just a simple hardware check attached to a web form AFAIK.
As it's being downloaded via a CDN it may be more difficult to track people if the CDN isn't specifically logging IP addresses. Not impossible just slightly more difficult.

^^ This.
It's on one of Blizzard's Akamai streaming servers. If they really wanted to they could delete it off their servers. There's no way they're not aware of it being downloaded right now.
But in saying that I've never had to post something on a CDN or on an Akamai server so I don't know how long it takes to remove something off them and if they need to wait for a delete command to propagate down each and every redundant server.
