So this season, the meta has been Globe Support Barb + DPS Wizard, maybe with a Globe Support Monk as well. Obviously it's quite centric. What are your opinions on globe support in general? Should it be fixed out, or reworked?
Personally, I think that Solanium is not the problem- Barb's 10% chance to spawn an orb attacks are. I think if globe spawning abilities are fixed, globe support builds would be much more balanced, and not abused nearly as much. As well, Solanium only procs on crits, so it encourages any globe support to have some DPS.
I would like to see globe spawning abilities nerfed, so that globe support is less OP, and any class can run it. Having Solanium's ability being the only source of globe spawning means globe support would see more hybrid builds, since you need to max crit chance. The other thing that could be done is to scrap Solanium and put its ability onto a craftable item set, maybe one that take up amulet and both ring slots? That way it can't be cubed, and it requires more dedication in the build, as well as allowing Blizzard to work in DPS buffs as the other set bonuses, to help encourage builds utilizing it to contribute to the group's damage. In either case, at the very least we would be able to see any class being used as Globe Support rather than only Barbs, which we see now
They ruined globe meta with the Solanium nerf, so you're gonna have to find something else to run in 4man groups. ZWD is still fine for now seeing how they did nothing to the damage amplification (that we know of) but we're gonna need something else to fill the other two slots. Maybe... a full tank crusader built on doing nothing but absorbing damage? Or maybe even a barbarian for that? It gives us a lot more experimenting to try with items.
I honestly think that certain aspects of the globe spawn support builds really create some awesome gameplay elements. Barb support charging around to pick up health globes while pulling mobs and spawning more globes in-between, i don't know, it's quite a complicated and fun type of game play that requires quick decision making and some thought. I think Blizzard should improve on top of ideas like globe spawn support instead of completely removing them from the game. I think the direction the devs take with every patch is extremely narrow-minded and stupid. It's like they have some set rules from 5 years ago and they are still trying to enforce them into the game disregarding the fact that the meta has evolved and the game has changed dramatically over the past few years...
Having said that, i still think that it's possible to make fun and engaging gameplay in grifts group play even without globe spawn or healers or whatever but i don't really understand what the devs are trying to accomplish... I don't think we will ever see groups of 4 dps classes outperforming dps+support groups simply because of the nature of things like dps/toughness buffing skills, pulling skills, crowd control skills, etc...

You won't see globe spawn anymore in a month. It's already been nerfed on PTR. See patch notes:

Solanium gets an internal 8 seconds cooldown, many globe spawn abilities have been changed.
Imo it's the same problem as using heal monk 2.3. If a specific build is required for high level grifts diversity is pointless.
Yea, fixing globes is just partially nitpicking at the meta problem.
People should be concerned about what class themself play, not what the rest of the group plays (only that they pull their weight).
The MMO mentality with different roles is just blurring the issue, which is only lack of balance (that cause the meta problem)
