Is the damage based on the time i place the hydra or always based on your current dps?
This would determine if I recast the hydra early for a better position even if my bane of powerful buff (for example) just ran out.
It doesnt procc anything (loh for example), right?
Tasker and Theo only improves non rune and blazing hydra, correct?
Are you sure it's dynamic? Everything I've read up until this post (granted I've not looked since 2.1) has said that it was snapshot. Particularly with passives like Unwavering Will, etc..

At the moment, it seems Hydra doesn't take into account your attack speed though. That's the reason why the top wizards in the leaderboard are using 2-handers (The Furnace) instead of Serpent Sparker.
There was a blue post confirming that only Blazing hydra benefits from IAS.
On SS vs 2handers: with gear that I have SS (w/o Ramalandi) + Blazing hydra does more DOT damage than a nearly perfect Maximus (with Ramalandi), and that's with no TnT and without +hydra damage on my FB source. I guess, with TnT, full +hydra damage and Ramalandi on SS (hence +7% IAS) the difference would be even more significant in favor of SS. +Elite damage on Furnace probably makes up for that when fighting elites and bosses though.
Why do people think that the hydra not scalin with IAS is a bug? A blue confirmed that it doesn't scale with IAS, but never said that it was not intended. Furnace will stay BiS, too bad that the dropchance is even lower than that of the wand of woh...
They didn't say it's a bug, but they said that they plan to implement IAS scaling for all hydra runes.
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/14058735980#9 "Correct! All runes of the Hydra skill take Critical Hit Damage and Critical Hit Chance into account, and most of them (except Blazing Hydra) can deal Critical Hits.
Blazing Hydra is the only rune where CHD and CHC are rolled into the attack itself. Instead of producing Critical Hits, Blazing Hydra calculates CHC and CHD as part of its regular attack damage. It’s also the only rune that incorporates Increased Attack Speed, which increases its damage per tick.
Although the other runes don’t currently benefit from Increased Attack Speed, it is something we want to implement in the future."
So if I use Zei's Stone of Vengeance and place the hydra right next to a minion, the damage of the hydra will be the same.
The Firebird dot, my blizzard dot and the blackhole however will add the extra damage.
Btw: I see 2 minions in a grift and dont want to lose time by killing them, so I keep on running but leave a hydra there. Lets say it does enough dmg to kill them while im far far away (but still in the same level). Will this fill the grift bar?`Or does the hydra stop doing stuff because Im too far away?
I know its a stupid question but I tried this pretty often and Im never sure if the bar grew or if it was my imagination

does anyone know how exactly the hydra works?
