Dealing your highest elemental bonus damagecauses the enemy to take the same amount of damage over 3 seconds, stacking up to 3000%weapon damage as Fire per second. After reaching 3000%damage per second, the enemy will burn until they die.
No then we would indeed not all be fire. But then we would all be wearing a firebird set.
Firebird's is good (design wise) because:
- It is impossible to combine with a full vyr's, forcing me to (or more like giving me a reason to) drop Archon.
- It Emphasises an element in a more interesting way than + 20% fire damage.
It is however not good because:
- Its damage is way to high pretty much forcing people into fire.
- It supports drop and run specs. (hydra + blizzard etc). I can't even call it kiting anymore when I just drop a hydra around a corner and start running.
This just means that Blizzard has to keep up with new items to release for the different elements in game for all classes in a much more timely manner than before. This is the hole they dug themselves into with all of the changes they made in RoS. There really isn't any other option for them at this point short of gutting the system and trying something new.
Rename it to "All elements Bird". GJ blizz thats nice ele diversity. WP gg soz jj awp. I would add someting like Unreal Tournament shock combo. Like hit arcane orb with magic missle to increase radius and damage of explosion by xxx% damage. And make it impossible to perform combo just by staying in place (mm slower than ao). And maybe longer mm flyes bigger damage? Lots of possiblilities.
If pre-2.1 Mirrorball-conflag was making fire stand out, Firebird has killed any elemental competition.
Tal Rasha needs huge buffs to be on par. The fact that procs don't trigger it anyomore ain't helping.
Vyr's needs a 3p bonus, else it's the new Helltooth (and Archon needs a Disintegration Wave rebalance/mechanic change).

Item wise the last thing I would want to see is every spec using the same item. Currently there are however to few alternatives to certain items.
firebird's is completely fine, since it only ties to element, not 1 (!!) single skill to use
Wizards are supposed to be the master of the elements, but right now we're the master pyromancers. Nothing more, nothing less.
