EDIT: Tested the Firebirds set and it is pretty nice, I like the set and hopefully I can get my hands on a Serpents Sparker or Wow. (Erased the original Post)
70 percent of the topics you make somehow revolve around wand of woh and whining about its drop rate. It's drop rate won't increase I'm sure, you aren't the only one that doesn't have it, you can live without it, like many many others
Is isn't any other build that will progress any faster than a Wow build. Hydra build takes too much time and all you do is kite.
But only to hit a brick wall called T6. Survivability isn't easy when you're running into crowds in T6 with the EB build. Sure its fun to have but you're only going to be disappointed when you find out it's very limited.

Yep. But the thing is that builds that DON'T require you to be in melee will also become much better with new gems, resulting in better progress in Grifts.
Firebirds doesnt have to be about one spell per say. What if it would just encrease fire damage by a %? Having the extra life in a T6 would be nice with something that just made a wiz better. As for the wow build, a new leg gem could change how well it plays in T6. But as for a firebird/wow build, it wouldnt be affective. You wouldnt be able to chain then together quick enough because of the cooldown
The thing is, T6 has never been an issue for successful Woh EB users. When you have optimal gear, Woh EB users generally average <10 minutes with few or no deaths in T6 solo (even without Unity). They are also very competitive with burst dps output in group play with Short Fuse instead of Chain Reaction. If you are unable to clear T6, it probably means you do need to change up your skills a little or optimize your gear further.
T6 will no longer be a benchmark of success in 2.1, people will instead be looking at Greater Rifts and see which build can go the furthest. Yes Woh EB deals insane damage now on PTR (my T6 rift times were effectively halved even without Firebirds), but is it viable on higher GR? Probably not due to the need to melee. Then there will be a need to swap builds. I like the fact that Blizzard is encouraging people to swap to more defensive and less risky builds as we progress.
Firebirds is pretty cool at the moment and I do like it that Wizards do not have to be pigeonholed into a certain skill to use it. It does have SYNERGY with our fire skills (notice the other class sets REQUIRE them to use certain skills). However, what i do want to see is other elements becoming more competitive with fire.

All you need is max damage and fire damage, a little toughness, teleport, hexing pants of my yen, and the wand of woh, also cooldown. It's pretty simple and I was watching inigo melt T6 with it. Everyone saying Wand of Woh is useless and overrated is ignorant or never watch streamers.
Ive been running a wow-firebird setup and it destroys t6. Elites die in under 5 seconds - I just blackhole them, drop a molten meteor, and run around with EB. But, T6 isnt he bench mark anymore. Really, with all the buffs now any build can run T6 relatively easily. The problem with EB builds is that once you get into the higher tier greater rifts (35+), survability becomes a major issue since you have to be in such close range.
right now my build is mammoth hydra/MM using serpent spark and mirror ball + 6 piece. it works alright but i think it takes too long for the dmg to stack up.
other classes can still do more damage and faster.
I agree that the set has problem but not about Synergy as OP stated. It's about the way you play.
Every other sets will change how you play. It's not just more damage but the way you deal it. For example: DH's sentries can shoot other skills, barb's leap can cause EQ, WD can DoT then harvest...
But firebird doesn't change anything. It's just PURE DAMAGE, which is boring. You just have to use a single elemental (no one already do that, right?)
Also, it makes fire too powerful compare to other elementals. When will we see thunderbird, arcanebird etc.?
i think you don't need a synergy with a skill, as Jinn said, other sets require the skills. what if you don't like the skill? what if firebird was bound to MM? i would find that very lame to run in end game with a signature spell ..
i don't think blizz will make another set with such a massive synergy like Jade harvester, also it might be nerfed, because it still is just the one and only nuke set from all. its similar to monk's sunwuko: you don't need a specific skill, but you do additional damage, and that's not bad dealing more damage as you would without. raiment + dashing strike is no synergy for me, as you mentioned in 1st post, because for a synergy it should have a flow between the skill and the set, with a maximum of 3 dashes, it's no synergy. when you have dashed 3 times, you're gonna have a baaad time .. i would appreciate it very much if they changed it from charges to spirit cost of like ~30, making it more valuable and flexible, but i don't think it will come.
probably hydra will also synergize with firebird, can't imagine they don't wanted it to. so then the set is gonna be just more powerfull. in fact, i think we will be seing most wizards in firebird's, running around, doing some aoe and seeing everything melting down.
What they did with firebirds adds so much versatility to the set. I can't wait to dump AT and start using it!
I just got done testing on the PTR with Mirror Ball+Firebirds and I can say things are beginning to look good for wizards.
based on what`? that you do more damage on the PTR than on live? you don't need to "test" that. it's given. but there are still TONS of problems with the wizard, i wouldn't say it does look good, especially as it looks like the devs really have no ideas on the direction in which they want to move wizards. i don't think much will change in 2.1. more damage, but the old problems keep existing (2-3 mandatory "active passives", bad coefficients since the CM nurf, bad distribution of "good" and "bad" skill (just look at our primaries), et cetera).
You posted the same crap in my other thread, have you tested the set yet?

This issue isn't whether or not the set is good, it's the core mechanics of the class. Maybe this set makes us the best class in the game in solo greater rifts; that is still not indicative of Blizzard addressing the fundamental problems with our class. It will be great if Firebird is good and gives us a viable spec or two, but that does nothing for the people who want to play cold/lightning/arcane, or anything besides MM Firebird for that matter.

Long Live Wizards!

Wizard specific items ( mostly wizard hats ) have random affixes. These items need to buff skills for more build formation, not less.
For example, storm crow affix.

btw: does this 3000%/sec scale with %fire dmg ?
