Two-week mark, so here's more or less my progress report.
The video is my first attempt to solo through a T6 Rift. Last time I tried on T5, but ended up with a bunch of bugged out ghost elites, so I stopped right there. This time at least there were no crazy ghosts so I managed to clear content all the way to the Rift Guardian without dying, but ended up dying to the Guardian three times because it was paired with an elite at the same time That and some cockiness on my part (see attempting to facetank mobs, Frozen Pulse, Guardian, elite, everything, and HP melting). I probably would've died a few more times at least had there been more crazy combinations of multiple elite packs. If not dying, then kiting for a whole lot longer. Group play will definitely go much smoother than soloing, for sure.
Yep, no Teleport nor Black Hole. Asking for trouble, I know.
No bugged items, no exploits, no potentially unintended combinations of items going on (e.g. Unity on you and your follower + follower invulnerability legendary, infinite resources Pride's Fall bug, etc.), no gear swapping... nothing fishy going on.
Gear highlights, self-buffed with Enchantress - Tal Rasha's 4-piece bonus
- 1.4M+ sheet DPS
- 1.68 APS, 60%+ crit chance, 400%+ crit damage
- 16% arcane bonus, 28% Arcane Torrent bonus
- 8K+ regeneration, 3K+ life on hit, 12K+ life after kill, 85K+ globes bonus
- 2800+ average resistances, 8800+ armor
- 12.5% range damage reduction, 34% melee damage reduction, 15% elite damage reduction
- 4 APoC, 10% RCR
T6 Bounty runs are a lot more manageable given their predictability. T6 Rifts, on the other hand... right now they make for a good challenge to see how well you geared yourself (or how poorly you geared yourself).
Many of us, including me, thought Torment VI would be completely untouchable for a month after launch, but there more and more are wizards out there already capable of soloing T6 Rifts without dying every 30 seconds or taking 5 minutes kiting all over the place to kill each elite pack.
...Eh, actually now that I think about it, I haven't seen people do T6 per se, just words and stories getting thrown around. The few videos I did see so far are either party runs or solo with bugged/exploity item combinations. But hey, that's why I uploaded a video, completely uncut.
For the veterans who've stuck with the game since pre-nerf original Inferno in May-June 2012, playing T6 right now is somewhat reminiscent of those days, meaning in due time, some of us may end up farming it more and more effectively and efficiently. Right now it's basically just a "for fun, challenge yourself" game mode.
Regarding one day potentially facerolling T6... I personally don't really like that. I'd prefer to have at least one difficulty that's absurd enough that no one will ever be able to farm it efficiently even with 100% perfect rolls across the board for all 13 items. But, oh, well.

Completely second that. Right now it feels like Torment levels are almost perfectly balanced, I know people running T3-4 who think that's the "sweet spot", we've been running T1 and believe that's the sweet spot (though we could run T3 and possibly even T4 easily). It's neither like in pre-1.0.8 (when you had to run MP1) or post-1.0.8 (when you had to run MP10) for maximum efficiency. You can just go wherever you like. But higher difficulties are just exactly what they're supposed to be: a tough challenge that is not super inefficient but also not mandatory as goal.
Oh and simply +1 because of no exploit/clever use of game mechanics/whatever. No Wand of Woh, no Mirrorball, no Gloves of Worship... impressive. To those who don't understand why it's such a huge deal: Gloves of Worhship will get nerfed, Mirrorball will probably get nerfed, Wand of Woh might potentially be nerfed (though unlikely, I'm just guessing because imho it's a bit too overpowered right now). This setup that Jaetch is running is 100% safe to never get nerfed. Thumbs up!
Can you describe how you progressed during these 2 weeks? For example - "started by farming normal adventure mode til my stats were x,y,z, then moved to expert unit x,y,x, then torment 1, etc.)?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
There is only one god and his name is Death.
And there is only one thing we say to Death. Not today.
It's using a bug that will be fixed with the patch this week (Gloves of Worship + Shrine of Empowerment lasting 1 hour instead of 10 minutes).
Bug using Gloves of Worship, bug using free 50% damage reduction with Unity + legendary follower items that make them immune to damage/death, combined with Pride's Fall for permanent 30% reduced resource costs.

Torment III leveling from 60 to around 65, Torment II leveling from 65 to around 68, 69, Torment I by the time I completed campaign. Did T1 in Adventure Mode for a day or so, jumped to Torment II for a couple of days, pushed Torment III and IV after obtaining a few legendary and set items after a week. I always periodically jump into a higher Torment level to see how I hold up. If it goes well, I farm a little more in the difficulty below it until I increase my DPS and EHP a bit more. So right now, my sweet spot for farming is in Torment III and IV because Torment V gets a little tricky sometimes and Torment VI is simply a challenge.
Your Tal's off-hand seems like it has a really low dmg range for a lvl 70. I think it actually matches the lvl 60 range on the armory page. Is that a bug? Or are set off-hands just supposed to have crap damage? I noticed that if you gamble on sources you will either get a cubed-shaped or ball-shaped one, and even though they are both lvl 70, all the cube one have crappy damage. Anyone know why that is?
Ok, so thats indeed sad, i am really interested in playing fire wiz with meteor as it seems to be the only viable source of fire dmg. Well, guess i need cindercoat, magefist, andys and much more stuff to faceroll at least t5
Fire wizards are still viable. You just have to find the right items to compliment them. Also, 10 minutes on a shrine is nothing to scoff at. That's still a lot of benefit.

After watching the video, I'll answer my own question. Its a display bug in the armory that makes the source show up with 100ish +dmg stats, rather than 300ish. Still don't know why the cube-shaped gambled sources have such bad dmg though.
I'll be working on a video to break down some of my stats. Then after that, I think I'll put up a video with me and another wizard running T6 together. Just to show that this wasn't a fluke.
Thanks for the gear breakdown video, but there are some things I don't quite understand, maybe you can elaborate:
1) Why not keep the Tal Rasha's chest and make use of the fact that it is one of the few items that has 5 primary stats? Especially since you're willing to keep the 2% CC from Vyr's I personally would value the up to 7% IAS higher...
2) This kinda goes out to all wizards: I personally don't see the reason for keeping 2% CC (on Vyr's chest). It's such a measly tiny stat. If you really want to maximize DPS everywhere, you need to go full WH belt, Andy's helmet, Lacuni's bracers and so on...
3) Chest slot can roll 10%-11% elite damage reduction. I personally made this my number #3 primary stat (after int and 3 sockets) on chest armor. I will always choose this over all resist, and see it on par with armor (pants and chest being the only slots that can roll high armor values up to 595 without sacrificing too many other stats). Why not go for this stat here?
4) If you do all the life%/vitality -> armor/allres switches mentioned in your video, you'd be down to some 250k life or so (guesstimate here). Have you actually put your desired endgame set stats into Loroese's spreadsheet? I'd be interested as to what you think what the lowest acceptable HP limit is. I feel that I don't want to drop below 300k life, personally. Just leaves some room for error. If you'd do all the vitality -> allres switches you'd definitely be lower than that.
5) Six Rings of Royal Grandeur? Holy crap are you kidding me? Please tell me you've done 10k bounties. I just hit 1000 bounties and I haven't seen a single ring (about 90% of those bounties Act 1 Torment 1).
==============================
Those are my questions. Of course I have a different gear set for my Archon build but I guess that's what makes RoS so great - we won't be all running around in the same gear. I think I would love to use Tal's chest, offhand, and belt, Vyr's pants, gloves, and boots, Aughild's bracers and shoulders, Andariel's helmet, Ring of Royal Grandeur, SoJ, Moonlight Ward and as weapon... whatever comes around; could be a Wand of Woh (running EB arcane), Gesture of Orpheus with +20% arcane damage, or Soh/TF. Well, I've got only 3 of those items so far (Aughild's set and Andy's helm), none of them endgame rolls, so technically I'm at 0% completion here and I won't even wait for it. 130 hours in and the game is constantly telling me with every drop to go fire, so I go fire (for now). ;-)
@Bag - For points 1 and 2, I think I clarified the Tal Rasha's chest decision in the video.
Simply put, I have no room for it.
If I use the Tal chest, I free up my amulet slot, or helm, or source slot, but that won't help me in completing the Vyr set (I'll talk about that later). However, a Tal Rasha's Allegiance is just too good. I could use a Moonlight Ward, but I will not be making full use of its proc because I do not plan on spending a great a deal of time at melee range.
So assuming I use a Tal amulet, that leaves the chest and belt for a Tal piece. If I use the Tal chest, that frees up my belt slot, but String of Ears is too good. Also, I need that slot to be open in order to run a Crimson set, or hell, even a 3-piece Blackthorne's bonus for the elite reduction. Belt is no go.
That said, I also need to use a Vyr piece. I don't want to use the boots because there are way better options out there in the names of Illusory Boots, Ice Climbers, Boots of Disregard, and again, if I want to run Crimson's, boots go there, too (I have no other open slot). And hell, again, Blackthorne's.
Lastly, I run a channeling build. I don't want too much IAS. So I can't use the Tal chest. No room for it.
For point 3, I do not value elite reduction as much on individual gear pieces because you only deal with elites a portion of the time. Even trash mobs right now can be a threat in high Torment difficulties so I go with generic mitigation stats. I touched upon this in the previous paragraphs, but I have elite reduction through set bonuses.
For point 4, I have wizard friends running T5 and T6 with sub-250K HP with few or no deaths at all in the vast majority of scenarios. Deaths, including my own, come in scenarios where we have to fight 3, 4, 5 elite packs at the same time, or against a particularly nasty Rift Guardian. I personally ran with 250K HP before and I was pretty comfortable running T4 and T5. Most of the stat changes I listed in the video are optional depending on personal needs. I currently am definitely willing to give up one big vitality roll for more mitigation.
Point 5... I did a little over 2.3K bounties.
As for drop rates, luck, etc... I hope you saw Travis Day's recent post. Hotfixes incoming.
Interesting, very interesting, thanks for the quick reply.
Well maybe the reason why I was not feeling comfortable with sub-300k was just because I didn't have enough mitigation (or wrong mitigation; no String of Ears etc). To all the other points... well I guess I just have to trust your judgment on this and when it comes to the decisions "what to re-roll" believe that I won't regret it in the end ;-)
This long-term planning is one of the reasons why I still haven't re-rolled my Depth Diggers. Although I could, I hope they won't be part of my final build anyways...
Yeah, it comes down to balance. I can afford to give up some vitality because I have a lot of mitigation. But if I reroll vitality to AR and I'm not happy with the results, I can always reroll it back (thanks, Mystic!). It's not like I go God-Mode in T5 and T6 either. I still need to find better balance.
Have you tried a shield for T6? I've seen some streamers using Lidless Wall for T6 farming and the more I try solo T6 rifts, the more I like the idea. Especially since I don't have any legendary/set sources yet. Another option is a Hallowed set (wand + shield). The only problem here is that the shield should be nearly perfectly rolled to be useful for a wizard, since you'll definitely want to re-roll its guaranteed +holy damage affix.
My friend Melkor sometimes uses a shield for T6. We ran a T6 Rift together recently so I might upload a video of that at some point. I believe he uses Coven's Criterion, the one from the A2 Horadric Caches that further reduces the damage you take whenever you block an attack.
@Jamoose - I would definitely, definitely, definitely drop the vitality on your shoulders and boots (considering you're already enchanting them). AR for shoulders, armor for boots. You have way too much life and could use more mitigation. I'd drop the vitality on your Triumvirate for bonus to whatever spender you're running. I'd prefer to keep vitality in the 2-3K range with total HP being around 200-300K or so. Less base HP, more mitigation for sustain, sufficient healing to keep that globe full.
<address>Thanks to the gear video I discovered how amazing Aughild set can be.</address><address>But I still can't quite grasp why tal set is so amazing you would go for it. To me it seems to be a waste of a lot of powerfull legendaries, like andariel (+arcane) / moonlight ward and another cool belt like your string of ears or a WH if you can get away with it.</address>
So, whats this video from 4 days ago then? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlYDmxSPuf4
Its a Wiz with meteor spam build somewhat 4 ApoC seems to be enough and facerooling stuff fast enough ( for me though) on T6
Look at his Gear +131% Firedamage, WoH etc
Put a SoH / TF on a Barb, and you kill stuff in half the Time he does.
