Hi, i have a question, what do you think is the best form of healing, especially when most players sit with 300k-400k HP. Is it really worth it to stack up on life on hit? and what do you consider is a decent amount for healing, mine is sitting around 20k, with 7k LoH, 4k regen, 40k health globes, 5k LperKill.
another is it better to just focus on toughness and just rely on your potions?
thank you very much on your inputs. greatly appreciate it.
well, what do you think should be my healing/max hp ratio, like for example, if i wanna use life on hit, for it to become that effective, should it be around 10k/100k of hp?
I usually run 10-15K life after kill, 10K+ life regen, 5K+ life on hit, and 80K+ health globes bonus (up to 10 pickup radius), depending on the combination of gear I'm running. In addition, I have the Bottomless Potion of Mutilation, which also increases LAK stats for 5 seconds on use. I also run 300-350K HP with high-end damage reduction (97% base mitigation from Blur, armor and resistance, 15% elite reduction, 7% range reduction and 30%+ melee reduction when I run String of Ears) so my pool often heals back to full in very, very little time. Compare this to people running 500, 600, 700K+ HP with much lower damage reduction and healing. Poor sustain spells trouble in higher difficulty levels.
Absolutely second what Jaetch said - get mitigation, as much as possible. One of the most underrated stats is actually elite reduction; you don't die from trash mobs. Aughild's set 3pc bonus is awesome (and good for people who are unlucky with RNG as you can easily farm it), and I even have +11% elite reduction on my chest armor. Also, the Chantodo's set helps a lot - combine that with Barrier Blades and you will definitely notice it.
I agree to some extent to T0lbert, but I think it depends a lot on the specific situation, play style, and so on.
Life on hit is far from being useless, it just depends which skills you use. Wave of Force actually has a quite decent proc coefficient (0.2); I run that with ~2 APS and when I cast 3-4 of them in the middle of a champion pack I get a lot of health back. Also, if you have Mirror Ball one of your signature spells (Magic Missile) becomes one of your main DPS sources and having a proc coefficient of 1.000 (or 0.5 for Conflagrate) it is definitely worthwhile.
Life per second seems indeed a bit useless on higher levels, but I always have 50 paragon points in LPS; the 9k LPS just help to replenish life when you're low HP and there are no health globes. I gain ~45k HP in 5 seconds which, given my high mitigation, enables me to take another hit and finish the mob. But on gear it might be a waste. It's probably more useful for monks.
Health globe bonus is absolutely awesome. Combine that with Rakoff's Glass of Life and it will make your life a lot easier.
Life per kill is extremely valuable if you're running around as glass canon on lower difficulty levels. Most people won't be able to kill stuff quickly enough on T5/T6 anytime soon, so I personally wouldn't recommend using it to get to those difficulties; unless you're running around with 3 other insane DPS wizards, of course... *looks at Jaetch* ;-)
Best form of healing: get a monk. Not only will a monk's aura increase your healing (if the monk decides to you use life regeneration mantra), a monk will also keep stuff away from you (Cyclone Strike), speed up killing significantly and have other nice party buffs (Unity passive and so on).
