Both arcane orb and energy twister in one build without any kind of arcane power regeneration will do you no favor in the long run.
Also scorch ist best if you can aim the explosion portion of it, but if you are closer to our enemie due to shock pulse and energy twister you waste some of the potential damage.
I would try out the meteor with the cd rune as a semi-cd for elites etc. or black hole instead.
Tried to see how fast I could kill ghom with a build almost identical to this. All damage sources are just plain suboptimal - sure you can kill things with it but it's like blowing on something til it falls over.
Used Arcane Torrent/Archon build and downed Ghom in less than half the time it took to kill him with this build and several similar. (with appropriate itemization for all).
Since the profile does not show enchantments, if have lower dps there. I am 750k dps unbuffed and around 1008k buffed. Works really well playing on Torment 4
On energyarmor I use pinpoint mostly, could go mroe defensive if needed.
Regarding your build, I think the fire hydra is really weak. Arcane orb doees its job 100x better. I would also argue using unwavering will and the mirror passive, pretty weak imo.
Wouldn't it make more sense to use Meteor - Meteor Shower? I find that the damage over time on Scorch is kinda bad because enemies move out of it and it's a straight line rather than an AoE.
Wave of Force - Heatwave is by far the best resource spender of all fire skills.
It does 427% weapon dmg in a quite huge radius(about 20 y) for only 25 AP. Arcane orb does way less dmg for 30 AP and is harder to aim, and meteor does similar dmg but with a delay and a 40 AP cost, so for me it is really the only option.
Then i use Meteor - Molten impact as a backup. It is really good against elite packs. 1650% weapon dmg + 550% burn for 40 AP. That's equal to about 4 wave of force in terms of dmg. It has 15 sec cooldown but it is still worth it.
I have 1.6m dps agains elites, so my meteor crits for about 25-30 million if they stand close to me. I can almost one shot certain elite packs on T1. It takes Mammoth Hydra 12.35 seconds to reach the same dmg as one of these. I say hydra is a really good alternative to Molten impact though. If you want something that is easier to aim and more consistant. The rest is just pure dmg and defense.
Since you're always in melee range to use Wave of Force it only really works if you're already crushing the difficulty imo.
Fire doesn't have too many options, so you can kind of explore it holistically. I've added add proc rate for all of them just because I think it's interesting.
There are three AP generators:
Magic Missile - Conflagrate (best for single-target damage and ranged builds; proc rate 0.499)
Shock Pulse - Fire Bolts (good signature DPS and highest proc rate with 0.8)
Spectral Blades - Flame Blades (best melee DPS and good fire damage buff, proc rate 0.31)
There are four AP spenders:
Wave of Force - Heat Wave (25 AP; best melee fire spell, proc rate 0.2)
Meteor - Molten Impact (good DPS support by high cooldown, proc rate 0.11)
So, where you go from here is up to you, a lot of the skills are situational and it often comes down to preference. Although Fire Bolts might be superior to Flame Blades, I just prefer the Blades. I did ~3 hours of T3 rifts yesterday and constantly switched between all the AP spenders, and my conclusions are as follows:
WoF - Heat Wave is best overall in my book, insane damage, and although it's technically a melee spell I had no trouble of surviving. Of course, having the best AP spender proc rate and being the "cheapest" helps.
ET - Gale Force has by far the highest damage if you have insanely packed areas and the chaotic direction of ET doesn't matter. This is a fun spell, but it's difficult to use strategically. Maybe best if there's no monk around - with a monk, I found the other three to be superior in every situation.
AO - Scorch is what I could switch to before boss fights, e.g., Ghom bounties or so, but usually I'm too lazy so I don't. It's also the best spell for glass canons because it allows strategic placement and a distance. But for that you need to use Magic Missile as well and I just think it's not that awesome...
Meteor Shower is absolutely awesome if you don't mind the delay. I do, but it's still occasionally fun to play with. Useless against a few mobs that teleport, worst example is Kulle - don't use it on him.
I've got about 920k DPS, 9m toughness, 15k healing, 3 APoC, 70% fire damage, and -30% cost to fire spells. Apart from average yellow gear, those items make the build shine: Magefist, Cindercoat, bracers, Razor Strop, The Burning Axe of Sankis. With Conflag I'm at 60% crit and crits go for 10-12m, so pretty insane DPS.
Here's the question. I am playing hardcore and I was using Frozen Orb build, as 99% of all wizards do. My stats are 620k dps and 10m tougness, 7 apoc and 40% fire damage + 30% wave damage. I still don't have Cindercoat though.I noticed that my WoF is critting for 4-5m, which is about the same as my frozen orb did when I had cold items equipped. But the thing with Frost orb is that it slows and actually you can release a lot more Orbs, than Waves in the same period of time. So, the question to those firemages who tried frozen orb build - does it really matter to go to Fire, or Frozen Orb build is still far more efficient with same amount of gear?
I just want to point out that if you use conflagration passive, you can drop pinpoint barrier for energy tap and put some points (at least 10%) on max arcane power. That will allow you to spam a lot more wof.
I got 100% fire damage without burning axe / devstator (using mad monarch).

Of course Frozen Orb is the better build overall, there is a reason it's what basically all Wizards play.
A lot of people don't like playing the FotM build though, and with the conjecture around Frozen Orb being bugged/OP and doing more damage than it's possibly supposed to I think it's good to explore other viable builds just in case.
I've been playing with the Flame Blades/Heat Wave build since 2.0 and love it personally. The melee/slightly tankier play style is super fun but honestly it doesn't shine like Frozen Orb unless you have the right gear or are crushing the difficulty level. Frozen Orb works no matter what you're wearing/doing.

Obviously the enchants are not updated so for an example, on the bracers i have 20% fire damage.
So i dropped sparkflint for chain reaction. I think it does more edps eventually. Also, teleport - calamity FTW.
My crits can go for 15m. Need a wand of woh so badly... will probably triple my edps lol
