Teleport

    Just a quick rant,

Am I the only one that gets frustrated that monks can teleport better than the wiz? it just make me crazy when I play with one. don't get me wrong I like having a monk in the party but, when I see them teleport it's......man....WTF. lol just had to vent, back to the game.

I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, the Monk is supposed to be an agile, mobile melee class, so it makes sense that dashing strike work the way it does. It gives the Monk an agile feel in combat.

On the other hand, teleport is massively underwhelming. The wizard as a whole is in a good place, but teleport is missing something. Not really sure how to fix it without making it super broken, though.

It's not really a "teleport" It's a dash. It does allow you to go through or pass any objects. So teleport is meant for that than to just get across the screen. I also think, depending on how you rune it, it's meant to be played more defensively unlike monks dash which is more offensive.

Dashing strike is more a movement spell while Teleport is more utility and defense.

Teleport with Calamity and Illusionist allows you to "stunlock" most targets.

Teleport/Calamity + Illusionist is really awesome.

But also Teleport/Wormhole (standard version lol) + Illusionist is really helpful on hardcore

As far as I know both teleport and dashing strike follow the same rules in terms of what locations are accepted as destinations and how far you can go using the skill.

Most (not all) of the teleport runes are utility-oriented in nature, while most (not all) of the dashing strike runes are damage-oriented in nature.

If it makes you feel any better I'm sure monks are jealous of a few wizard skills...

I played a Monk quite a lot after 2.0, always with Dashing Strike on the bar... And I think that Dashing Strike just shouldn't go through walls. Going through walls should be a Wizard-only exclusive feature.

I'm curious now, can Wizards go through Elite/Champ walls? Asking since sometimes this seems to be pretty broken. I just died to an elite pack which nailed me between walls and placed 2 arc sentries below me and I couldnt port through the walls.

Would have been able to move through several walls, placed by elites/champs?

Wizard teleport does go through walls, you just have to target it in the right place and it isn't always easy to know where that is. As a general guideline targeting it far away works most of the time.

As for Dashing Strike, you can really call it whatever you want it's still a teleport even if they renamed it "Cupcake Buffet". It doesn't really bother me but I still think the Monk version is stronger unless you pair Teleport with Illusionist. It just has more flexibility thanks to being able to save a charge for defensive use while still applying it for offensive use.

I've had problems with both skills not sending me where I want. They seem to get stuck on world geometry sometimes, like pillars or small houses/cliffs. Both skills can definitely bypass elite/champ walls.

Does DS allow you to go through walls and gates (and other things of that nature)? I keep teleport on my skill list A. To get away from the hurts. B I have it rune'd with fracture so it doubles as a threat drop. Personally I like this over DS unless that does allow the passing through objects..

It does, but it's currently bugged and doesn't work always seen somewhere that they will fix it "soon"

i get this sometimes as well, not too bad if you don't die, really sucks when you do.

DS can go thru walls, and maybe i am just bad at aiming, but it seems that DS works better than TP, but I don't think i would go without it.

You know that gap before the SK, after you destroy the four towers, the barb can jump over that gap, but the wiz can't teleport there... that still annoys the hell out of me

I feel like I have teleported over that before. Infact I think I have several time. I just think it's a small window you have to hit for it to work. (:

Teleport has always been iffy. In the dungeons where the Warden is (frogotten the name for now I'm shamed to say), you can sometimes port though bars, and sometimes you can't. It feels weird Barbs can jump to places we can't port to. We bloody dematerialize!

I still have no idea sometimes where I can port to, and where I can't. And wallers supposedly are buggy. I haven't really had many issues so far, with walls in particular lately. When 2.0 first dropped, yes, but afterwards, it became less. No idea what changed exactly, especially with their reverted fix, but so far, it works quite alright *knocks on wood*

Often the reason you can't port through bars is because you're trying to port into a room with a door that has yet to be opened/broken. You can't port into a room if all doors leading to it are closed.
