It's always been that way. Armor and resists are the same thing. Assuming you have a 10 to 1 armor to resists ratio, 10 armor is equal to 1 all resists.
Your total mitigation from armor and resists is just: Mit= 1-[(1- armor reduction)(1-resists reduction)]
I just made an interesting discovery: Frost Armor - Crystallize gives me more EHP than Energy Armor - Prismatic Armor (after 3 melee hits, ofc).
I'm not so much worried about melee damage then I am all the elemental damage that's so much harder to avoid..
I agree. But keep in mind that melee hits are only needed to activate the three stacks; the armor bonus you get works against everything,
I still just don't get this sentence. I can see how Crystallize would increase resistances, but I *don't* see how there's an armor bonus baseline in Ice Armor. Because there isn't - it specifically says melee attacks are reduced by 12% damage. there's only extra armor involved with Crystallize Rune. The punctuation is wrong or something.
Anyway, I've embarrassed myself enough this thread, and I'm leaving with my tail tucked firmly between my legs. Adios
I'm talking about this skill here:
The three stacks are up 99% of the time - except for when you encounter pure elemental-based elite packs and can't kill them within ~25 seconds. With all three stacks I have more toughness than with EA:PA.
Besides, here's an update regarding shield generation: Both MW:Deflection and Barrier Blades are kinda bugged at the moment, so that might be one reason for my frequent deaths on T1. Hopefully it's fixed until next year. The F&F wizards over at the official forums kinda concluded that at this point, a melee wizard doesn't really work, you have to kite. Meh.
A friend of mine just asked me for screen shots of my gear, and I thought maybe some of you might be interested as well, for whatever reason. All rares, but some of them pretty nice already (quite satisfied with the rings :P)

Feels too good somehow for such a short amount of time. All those items with the right combination of stats.

Smart drops. At the moment it's happening more often than not. And you can enchant using the Mystic with rolls that are catered to your character (call it smart crafting and smart enchanting).

I actually think those rings are pre- RoS quadfectas with rerolled intelligence. I think the odds of a quadfecta in RoS are even lower then d3V

Actually they are not. Look at the high lightning resists rolls. Clearly RoS ring.

Maybe it's just compensation for the bad luck I had in vanilla. Crafted something between 1000 and 2000 amulets, all absolute crap (nowhere near trifecta, and then we're all aiming for quinfecta, aren't we...). I don't have a single rare level 60 amulet left, all salvaged. Neither a crafted pair of gloves.
Yeah, I got insanely with crafting rings. Hate me... I even have a third trifecta ring in my stash (soulbound).

Yeah, beta items are always a great compensation Though beta access is worth something
By the way, is it just me or do those multi-quotes take up way too much space with the new forum design?
nope, since day 1... armor is king in terms of damage mitigation

They are treated the same way.
