I'm a bit late with the congratulations on your video, but i was a bit (read: a lot) intimidated by the lenght.
Since i decided to play a Wizard for a while, even if it's a Black Ice build, i found your guide quite useful and entertaining. It's always better to know other builds for a class you like
I use to do this method and it works fine enough but half the time the crypt doens't spawn so you waste your time looking for it, logging in and out, and looking for it again. Brings down your true exp/hour.
Another thing is you want to kill the spewing horrors last so they spit out more mobs. This really depends what build you're running and if its easily doable. But if you can it can have a huge impact on how much exp you gain in the crypt. It's easy with a firebats build for example (pestilence to aggro them, then just stand back as hordes keep coming towards you as you firebat away). But other builds like a WW Barb, it doesnt make sense to and I just kill indiscriminately.
Lately, i've actually been doing act 2. Vota check point, get 5 stacks, then Oasis full clear, forgotten ruins full clear, then the eastern and western channels. I skip elites after the intial 5 stacks. I've been getting anywhere from 180-200 exp/hour with my barb doing this. Each run takes about 18-20 mins, and I get around 60-65mil exp per run. This is solo, mp10, with no exp items on my character. Yes, I know this is a barb but I did these runs with my WD and DH as well and its as good as the typical act 1 run.
@RasAlgethi - It's still luck at the end, that's true, but for solo runs, if you know where the Crypt will spawn, it doesn't take all that much time. The total EXP you pick up in there generally outweighs the time you'd spend running strictly Fields and Hollows. This is especially true for team games when you have 4x players all searching at a time. I ran four back-to-back-to-back-to-back Crypt runs tonight alone and leveled up from 58 to 61. There were no gaps in between as one of the four people always found a Crypt in his/her game. Again, RNG, but it's well worth it.
I'm also talking about strictly Archon, not any other class or any other build, hence why I placed this under my Archon video guides. Act II starting from VotA isn't the greatest because there can be huge gaps in between mobs. Otherwise it'd be repeats of Dahlgur Oasis.
Yeah I use to do it with a few other people. Sometimes one of us finds the crypt right away and its great but some times even with 3 of us looking, it takes more than 5mins.
Vota is only for the quick 5 stack. Usually takes me 4-5 mins for the 5 stacks, the rest of run is amazing.
I've done lots of paragon leveling (attempts) recently and VotA just sucks for Archon. It absolutely sucks. Theoretically you think you can get 5 stacks quickly, but I personally (despite having a good EHP/DPS ratio that lets me easily farm everything on MP7 and with some effort even MP8) haven't had a single run on MP7 that gave me 5 stacks in VotA without problems (Archon dropping off, dying, whatever).
For every other class: getting 5 stacks in VotA is a great idea. For Archon: nope, at least that's my opinion. I tried really hard as act 2 is brilliant otherwise (if it wasn't for the annoying freaking wasps, act 2 would be perfect).
Edit: can't watch your video for now, Jaetch, but will definitely watch it later and comment and it. Can't wait! (Though I can't play the next 2.5 weeks anyways )
Thanks for the expansion pack on the original vid, Jaetch Was definitely a surprise when I checked my YouTube this morning and saw another video from you! Keep up the amazing work man. It's so refreshing to see someone so dedicated to this game, and helping others to have the same passion as yourself.
Hi Jaetch, Thanks for the follow-up video!
However, I have a question regarding your farming route. You do both Fields of Misery and Weeping hollow. However, in this post on Barb forum, the poster estimates that exp/hour for Weeping hollow is ~2 times less than Fields.
So the question is: is it worth running WH or is it better to just run Fields + Crypt?
I always felt hallows wasn't that great. Lots of mobs but the exp/hour wasnt that high. I usually just stack up to 5 in fest/leorics, then do fields (and crypt, and scavengers den).
On a side note, the scavengers den in fields is actually really good as well.

Twice as much? That sounds like bogus. His research looks really great, but the "average legendaries per hour" sounds a bit too high to be reasonable (especially since he skipped all elites).
Nubtro has done lots of research, check his numbers here. It also looks a bit more rigorous and he provided lots of proof.
But: note that you can't really compare WW to Archon. Gameplay is fundamentally different. Becomes very apparent at VotA as mentioned above.
I don't know if I'm just really lucky or something, but it takes approximately two minutes to scan both Decaying Crypt areas upon starting a game. Out of the ten searches I've done, I got the Crypt six times. So for the four times I missed the Crypts, that's about 8-10 minutes without significant EXP (I still kill off the mobs near me before I portal back to town). In those 8-10 EXP-less minutes, you'd be running 6x Crypts at 5 NV stacks in your other runs. There's a big difference in EXP there; you'd more than make up the lost EXP.
Bear in mind this is all with Archon as the spec, not any other class, not any other types of builds.

You definitely got lucky ;-) I'm not good at these probability maths, but if anyone wants to give it a try, here are the spawn locations and "shared events": http://diablo.gamepedia.com/Fields_of_Misery#Tiles
To me personally it feels more like below 50%. But I could also be unlucky. I did countless runs with my TR monk when searching for the House of Curious for the achievement, and had plenty of maps without the Decaying Crypt.
It helps to memorize this map. As you can see, from the WP always move RIGHT (and a bit up) until you hit the road.
1) If the road is close to the WP, the WP spawned at E or G; go back to check tile F, then go up to D and C.
2) If you hit the event A at upper edge of the map, the WP spawned at B, so just go down to C and do a small half-circle to check D and F.
3) If you don't see the road immediately, and you don't see the edge of the map, the WP spawned at D, so just check what spawned at C and then go straight down to F.

The Decaying Crypt is only in zones C or F for me, never once have I ever found the dungeon in zone D, which is why in the video I say right away to check the northeast and southwest sides. However, it's even better if it spawns in zone D, as I also state in the video to follow the path to the right of the waypoint, head up northeast and then cross down toward the southwest side. It'll be very easy to incorporate the zone D area in passing.
Thank you ever so much for these guides, Jaetch. The first one, especially, is a shining example of how good and informative game guides can really be. You did a fantastic job on it.
Personally I picked up a few bits of knowledge, which was great. I only really have SNS/CMWW gear at the moment but after having tried Archon for a wee bit I must say I enjoy it - perhaps because it means I won't have carpal tunnel syndrome by christmas.
Ok I made the switch to a life steal weapon last night. because I could only play on MP8 efficiently.
Spent 100 mil to test it out and then jumped into MP10... ok life steal wins!
I had to take a 30k dps & 5k health hit.. but man I feel like i am cheating with 2.9 life steal on weapon + 1.5% from blood magic...
Reflect mobs no longer scare me. Now all i need to do is get my DPS up to 400k and i think I should be as efficient as I need to be in MP10.
I almost have to disagree with you Jaetch that life steal weapon is optional to do MP10.
Sure if you have 500k+ dps then 1.5% life steal from blood magic may do the job but if you are like me sitting between 300-400k dps.. life steal weapon is a must i feel to move up the MP brackets...
