Hey I haven't played Diablo 3 in a *long* time...since MoP came out. The expansion piqued my interest again...especially cause paragon levels transfer over. Can you guys give me some tips as to what's changed? Important builds? I think I left off with a slow 2-hander and +crit damage. Force armor was a must. My bags are full with rares! I'm tempted to just D/E everything to clear it all out. Is disenchanting worth it anymore or should I sell?
Mainly I just want to help make my wizard viable...please help.
If you want an overview of what gear is worthwhile for wizards in general, have a look at my gear guide (in my sig), which will also give you a general overview of what stats are needed and so on. It's not a guide that requires some kind of million gold budget (actually, the other guides don't require that either).
For more specific feedback, we need more specific information: link to your profile, what's your budget or are you at zero gold now, what's your playstyle (self-found or AH, solo or group), what was your favorite build/spell when you played for the last time...
With the little current information in mind, you should just play on Monster Power 1 wherever you feel like it, find some loot, and collect all Demonic Essences to craft amulet/shoulders/gloves/bracers. That's for starters ;-)

Those rares are most likely really out dated so you are better off D/Eing everything, the reason why is because crafting bracers/shoulders/amulet can yield extremely good results, so you could use the mats... instead of selling them. It might take a large amount of tries and mats to get something worth it, imo, bracers and shoulders are the easiest to get "good" stats on as there is less desirable stats to obtain compared to amulets which could include +damage, vit, main stat, crit, crit damage, ias, % life, all resist, hit on life, socket.
archon or cmww specs are the most common.. after you get enough gear, you can start messing around with your choices and still be very viable.
edit: after looking at your profile, i would suggest to craft amulet, shoulders, gloves, bracers in that order.
- get a weapon with a socket and put a green gem in it, make sure the weapon has at least 2.5 life steal if 1h or 5% if a 2h.
- as for gear, you need a lot more crit, crit damage, your ring slots could use some love.
- dont bother crafting the chest, you can get a cheap legendary one
- dont until you reach at least 100k damage, imo, dont worry about the hellfire ring, while the xp bonus is good, chances of getting a very good roll are low and its a waste of mats.. save them instead.
when you say craft amulet you mean a rare amulet from the BS right? how many +random affixes should it have? I guess i could buy a pattern.
and just D/E everything then unless its a good rare? (new items i mean)
not from the bs but from the jeweler.
An ideal amulet will have all offensive affixes, however, it could get quite expensive to get something like that. At the very least, I would recommend that it has
min-max(either or both, both is better) damage
vit
int (which is the one you are crafting anyways, 200+ int )
critical hit chance as close to 10% as you can get
critical hit damage as close to 100% as you can get....or IAS depending of spec
any other stats after those are just a plus really.
As for legendaries, these are the "cheaper" ones you can get if I am not mistaken
Head: Storm Crow
Chest: Tal Rasha's Relentless Pursuit
Weapon: 2h Skorn with Life on Hit + Int
Oh yeah, should've clarified that. There are new level 63 crafting recipes that require one Demonic Essence each per craft; only craft these. You can get them for 5k at the AH, I believe. It can take a while until you get a got craft, but it's limited as to how many Demonic Essences you have, so you need to keep farming anyways ;-)
thanks! all of that was a lot of help. also I read that all the acts have equal loot and mob density now about....should I just farm Act 1 then? all the mobs are so much easier than in the other acts....slow and no extra abilities
Whatever you feel like. Fields of Misery and Weeping Hollow are most people's favorite areas, yeah. But since I'm easily bored I'm running a lot of act 2 lately, lots of densely packed elite packs everywhere. The only damn thing are these stupid freaking wasps ;-) I sometimes even run act 4 for fun, tons of enemies and a chance for a "random key drop" which I like. But that's really a lot tougher than act 1.
I'm having such a hard time figuring out what's sellable or not...is there an easy guide that'll tell you what's worth throwing on the AH?
99.99% = crap
0.009% = meh can sell for 1-10 mil
0.001% = yay
Pretty much if it is not a BIS lvl 60 item chances are it is crap
Unless you find lvl 60 items with reduced level requirement by 17-18 and has ok stats - these are worth a lot. (50-200mil for most good rares)
- a lot of the elite players only pick up certain rare items (trying to find the BIS lvl 60 items)- but they miss out on finding the lvl 17-18 reduced level requirement items...
yeah it is mostly crap i think it looks good and then it never sells lol.
though wow i just got a Skorn drop...it has high int and some vit. I was thinking of going archon build but it seems like that and the other build require a 1h weapon and some speed....what's a good spec with a slow 2-hander like Skorn?
I'm not really into optimal....I'm probably going to play when I need to veg out and listen to the radio or in short spurts- like get a stack of NV, go clean up a bit, come back- get the next stack of NV. I like the challenge of going to higher and higher MP and getting paragon levels though.
Dunno if I have enough defense to do a sleet storm build....I upgraded a lot of items though. When should I switch from force armor to prismatic armor though?
Maybe I'll try AM though. Or just stick with my Arcane Torrent or go back to Disintegrate.
sorry, another question....I've been using the templar for the longest time now...don't even have the other 2 equipped. i think i saw somewhere that the scoundrel is the best to use....what do i need to do to get him geared and what skills are good?

If you're interested in playing Archon, I suggest you watch Jaetch's awesome video guide: http://www.diablofan...e-archon-guide/
For CMWW, there's Loroese's guide: http://www.diablofan...ive-cmww-guide/

That's my hero. Uhm I have 2-2.5 million gold. (depending if some rash bid I made goes through lol)
I generally play alone.
I'm trying monster power 4 right now in Act 1.
