Calculate Socket Weapons with and without a Gem(CHD)

• Today i took a look on the auction house. And there was two weapons for around 1,5 billion gold.
QUESTION: Is there anyone who can calculate what the best weapon is?

AXE:1213,4 damage pr. seacond, 595-1118 damage and 1,42 pr second.
+302 min
+378 to max
+38% dmge
IAS: 9%
CHD: 62%
Life Steal: 2,80%
***Socket but without a 100% CHD Gem (EDIT)
= 17.327 dmg

or

SWORD :1179,3 damage pr. seacond, 562- 1123 damage and 1,40 pr second.
+314 min
+403 max
+39 dmg
CHD: 64%
Life Steal: 2,2%
***Socket but with 100% CHD Gem (EDIT)
= 58.661 dmg
• Yes, look at my dps spreadsheet. If you fill in everything correctly you can see which is better but it depends heavily on your other stats. Or you can try d3up or another dps calculator.

Without looking at it I'm almost 100% sure the one with a socket is better. 100% CD should add a TON of dps and more than outweigh the 30-40 weapon dps difference.

• This is my stats: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/MROnet-1977/hero/29238224

Ingame i have 56% CC and around 420-440% CD.

UPDATE: I compared my weapon without the socket in to the two weapons above.
• Like I said, 100 CD >> 40 weapon dps, so the OS weapon will easily give more dps. It's not even close, like 40-60k dps from the OS at your gear level.

• I'm a noob, so you need to explain it so I can understand it :-)

I just want to know. Weapon nr. 2 will give me = 58.661 dmg.
But what about weapon nr. 1. When I insert a 100% CD Gem?

UPDATE: I tryed on d3up.com

Weapon 1 with attack speed +9 and with a 100% CD Gem.
It gave me 311.415 dmg.

Weapon 2. Gave me 304.061 dmg.
• dude, the way you explained the weapons there is no socket on the first weapon, so you CAN'T add 100 (or 110) CD
• My bad. Let me explain.

Both are with a socket. But weapon nr. 2(Sword) is with a 100 CHD Gem and the Axe is without.
So I wanted to know, what weapon for the best damage.

If this is true, the first one is about 7500 dmg better.

• Oh, if both have a socket then the first should be better. only 2 CD difference but the first is faster slightly and ~30 DPS higher. That should make it slightly better than the second.

When in doubt, use a spreadsheet or dps calculator. That's why I made my spreadsheet in the first place.

• Just use a damage calc. D3up and www.d3rawr.com/d are good ones.
• Tanks alot. I did use d3up :-)

• I bought this one instead : http://s22.postimg.org/fvmjkw5oh/image.jpg

I was cheaper, but only with 50 CHD, but then I could effort to make a 110% Gem.

= 6425 dmg more than the Axe.
• Link them both to a friend and enter the game buff yourself and you'll see what's going on with the numbers( the sockets from ah disappear when you link the weap). Or just use this page it's AWESOME http://theasiangamer...age-calculator/

That doesn't really work very well with weapons (or anything with sockets) because you get slightly different dps gains from the socket for each weapon. In other words, 100 CD might be worth 50k dps for one weapon but 55k for another weapon, or 45k for a 3rd. It's really best to just a dps calculator to be completely sure when spending that much gold on an item.
