Hello fellow wizards, a newcomer wants your aid on a most distressful task: To reach Paragon Level 100.
I started playing a wizard like a month ago, when I came back to D3 from a quite large period of hibernation (former WW barb and Acid Rain WD).
First, I leveled with a Black Ice build and found it really fun. After Paragon 20 or so, sold my old gear and tried a CMWW build, which I was rocking MP7 and was very proud of it. Then I changed again, to an CM/Archon build on very low MP (MP 2) and XP skyrocketed. So I decided to buy a 31% EXP ruby, a 30% leorics and made my first Hellfire ring (like a week ago) to rush paragon levels.
I'm at p40 now, 1 level per hour (60 or so million XP) and I think I could do better (with your help guys). I intend to do another Hellfire to put on my follower, and buy another 30% leorics, but I think my problem is the leveling route, and I wanted you guys to check it with me:
Act 1, last quest: Festering Woods till 4 NV, then Leoric's Mannor to get the 5th, then full Fields of Misery + Decaying Cript (when it spawns).
I tried Act 3 going through Tower of the Damned for NV, then Keeps 2, but wasn't that good.
So, any tips for a fellow wizard?
Thanks in advance (and sorry about my poor vocabulary, english is not my first language).
That's the same act 1 route I use. What I suggest is to forget about Leoric's and Hellfire rings and run higer MP. The NV xp bonus is now multiplicative with bonus MP so higher MP gives a pretty large xp bonus. On MP9 with 5 NV I get about 820% bonus xp with just a hellfire on my follower. I have a recommendation or DPS vs MP in these forums.
I also suggest dropping the APoC on your OH for a higher DPS version, preferably with 200+int and 50+vit. You can also switch LL to WW to refresh Archon faster since you have APoC on helm. Or get a 200+int Mempo.
Guys, I think it's kinda ridiculous to recommend MP9/MP10 to someone with that gear. Not everyone has billions to dump into one char and can just go roflstomp MP10 in a full party.
One thing to note, however, is that much of your gear is still CMWW gear and not really a good fit for Archon. For example, APoC (as Loroese mentioned) on OH is wasted. Similarly, the LoH on the BT pants gives you nothing; you could switch to a rare pants or some Depth Diggers (or even Inna's if you decide to stay low MP and just want DPS).
I disagree with Hellfire Ring being useless, but I do think that Leoric's is not worth it, especially considering that you could get a Zuni Pox for the set bonus.

Overall I think 60m/hour is not that bad, like Kodaijin said... most people talking about 150m/hour had gear worth billions and were mindlessly farming MP10 Arreat scorpions like robots. For the sake of sanity, you want some balanced farmings that doesn't melt your brain cells.
About your XP routes:
-For act 1, I'd suggest adding Sweeping Hollow (just go to Cemetery WP and backwards)
-For act 3, I'd start the old-fashioned Alkaizer run: Core checkpoint on login, run backwards, WP to Tower of the Damned 1, run counter-clockwise (!), then Keep 2 and whatever floats your boat (optionally Keep 3, Rakki's, Fields of Slaughter). Other Towers/Craters are not worth it anymore imho after the scorpion nerf and due to the fact that you can get horribly lost. If you want to run Crater 2 don't do it the "Alkaizer way" but backwards (Tower of the Cursed WP and then go up).
-What about act 2? VoA, Road to Alcarnus WP, Dahlgur aren't that bad either for some distraction.
I'd say try some things out, also on different MP levels, and find your sweet spot. Goes into both directions - try out high MPs but also MP1.
With how good Crypt is in fields (especially if you run around and aggro the mothers first so they spit out more before killing), I've been running the following method with some friends.
Requires at least 2 people but the more the better. Everyone start they're own game and look for the crypt (ideally with a character that can cover large areas quickly - ww/sprint barbs, tempest rush monks, etc. As soon as someone finds the crypt, invite the others. At this point you can switch back to the character you're trying to run. We then run festering woods/Leorics for 5 stacks, then just clear the crypt. Rinse and repeat. By the way, a good way of knowing when the mothers wont spit out anymore is when they only spit out one last enemy, instead of the usual 3 at a time.
The crypt is an easy area to clear so doing it on mp10 shouldn't be difficult with lower gear. We usually net about 120-150mil/exp hour with this method but it varies with how fast we find the crypt and how many enemies spawn in it.
One last thing, a WD's locust swarm pestilence is a great tool to aggro all the mothers quickly.

None of us actually said "go farm MP9-10". Instead the posts just indicate how good higher MP farming is.
IMO if dropping the hellfire ring means you can raise the MP level, the it's worth it. That does depend on your current gear and budget of course. Also, l prefer running with a SoJ for elites, so I have no room for hellfire ring, though I suppose I could use one for trash mobs instead of the rare dps ring. I'll have to try that to see how the xp is.
OP has 173k dps atm. Switching OH, leoric's, and maybe helm could raise dps to around 200k, which is around MP6 in my recommended table. At that point the MP xp starts to outweigh the bonus xp from gear pretty well.
After playing around with the site you linked, MP6 with hellfire+ruby is about the same bonus xp as MP7 without either, with a very slight edge to the ring+ruby. MP5 with both is quite a bit better than MP6 without, so MP7 seems to be the break even point. If you can farm MP7 by dropping the ring and ruby, then it's worthwhile, not to mention the loot is better at higher MP because of increased MF and the bonus item.

with 4 people in a map you get your exp multiplied by 1.3 which means than in mp10 i have over 1200% bonus exp gain
don't forget to mention that running in a full group on mp10 you need to have very good EHP or you will get rick rolled.
