So Ive always thought CM wizards are fun, I myself had a budget CM wizard that I ran around with sometimes. However, yesterday after purchasing gear for my DH I found out I had some gold left from selling stuff, not enough for an actual upgrade for my DH, but enough to buy stuff that would boost my DPS and all on my CM wiz. So my DPS went from 95k to 147k and I managed to boost resistances, a little bit of HP, and keep my LoH and Attack Speed on top of the 2.5 mark.
It was amazing the efficiency that I ran MP9 with, however, all the fun and frozen wonders ended when I encountered a Reflect mob. I managed to kill myself faster than I ever thought I could.
DH's have an obvious solution for Reflect mobs, and so do all other classes due to the fact they stack LS and not LoH. Im at around 1100 - 1200 LoH, which I thought was enough, so my real question to all you pro wizards out there who have tons of experience with the class is, how do you deal with these reflect mobs? I've been gearing other classes up in order to understand all of them better and have a better idea of how they work, however, this thing on the wizard just caught me off-guard.
Well im not an expert on wizards but I like to dabble in all classes so I can understand them all.And you my friend shouldnt be doing MP9 35K HP.U need over 40K.Says here in the bnet profile u have 415 all res. That's way way too low. If I were you I would get a better amulet without the LoH get more defensive stuff on it. like all res. Inna's pants when ure ona budget shouldt be bought. I think some blackthorn pants with high LoH 50+ all res and armor are pretty cheap and they add lots of EHP.
I think u exaggerated a bit on the dps for defensives. U should get a zunimassa chest piece its so damn good and cheap with like 230+ vit and good all res + u get the 3 set bonus which is better than most 3 set bonuses.( for monks at least ).
Yea so your problem in short is EHP, which means u need more vit allres and some armor. Some armor would be pretty sweet 3.5k-4k is the target usually. And with the blackthornes u should get that np.
Here is my budget wiz.Its like 10-12 mil invested in it and I can do Mp5 very easy and done MP7 with not much problem. And u have way better gear so yea just get more EHP.
http://eu.battle.net...8/hero/15370642 ( my wiz is by no means the be all end all of how to build your CM wiz but since I dont die to reflect and other nasty stuff I think im doing decent ) I have the 2.31 break point IAS, as I dont think its that importnat when ure on a budget to squeeze as much IAS as possible as you will prolly be losing out on a lot of EHP as you've done.

Thanks for the response. I actually dont run with 415 resists, my wizard has about 600-650, guess the resistance added by intelligence doesnt show? Not sure but yeah, maybe even 600 is too low. I ran with low HP because that was how I saw most CM wizards going, but I've also thought about it too. The thing is, how do you pass from dying with 600 resistances on reflect mobs to out healing the reflect when the only thing you have is LOH? Sure I could get more resistances but will it make that big of a difference? If LoH is all CM's use wouldnt higher dps people have even more trouble with the reflect mobs? Unless I need to stack over 900 resistances then maybe that would make sense.
Also, the reason I chose my gear is because of he IAS, if I switch to the piece you mentioned CM wouldn't work that well I guess.
I run with 2.31 breakpoint and CM works more than fine.U dont NEEED the 2.5 breakpoint.U can keep them frozen with 2.31 just as easy. Well for high MP u need a little bit more res and some armor. 600-700 is decent but u could use some armor and definitely at least 5K more HP. Every guide I've ever read says u need good balance between EHP and DPS especially as a CM WIZ. ( tho that;s prolly true on all classes, not necessarely all builds . e.g. Archon wiz ).
If u switch the gear the CM will work more more than fine. But if you insist on having 2.51 that s fine aswell.Just swap some parts around and get more vitality. I really dont understand how you can die I mean with my poor set I freeze and tank reflect dmg on MP7 and it doesnt even touch me. its EHP problems man:(
Bagstone (I'm sure it was him) posted the other day regarding how more armour and resists will help you more than extra vit due to the damage mitigation provided by diamond skin. If i find the post, I'll link it.
@OP: In Loroese's awesome must-read CMWW guide there's some recommendation for EHP regarding each MP level. For MP9 he recommends about 4600 armor and 755 allres. Looking at your char, allres might be okay (in particular as you're at 1200 LoH which is about twice as much as needed) but your armor is quite low. Get more armor and I assure you - you'll be fine. I can solo "farm" MP10 (i.e., rather "survive", killing takes too much time yet) with 5000 armor, 800 allres, 32k life and 800 LoH, at 19 APoC/2.52 APS/52% CC. My nemesis are not reflect damage mobs, but rather Molten/Electrified/Plagued/Arcane mobs with tons of elemental damage (I use Blur instead of Unstable Anomaly - lets you laugh at Phasebeasts). 35k life are enough. I used to run ubers with 60k and sometimes up to 90k HP but less armor/allres and I died occasionally. Focus on armor and allres, I'd even say max these two (in particular get bonus armor on every single slot), then you'll be fine and don't need to care about survivability anymore and can choose other gear+skills to get max DPS.
The vast majority of CM/WW wizards I know stack over 800 AR and well over 4,000 armor to go with their 900-1,200 LoH.
Base HP and DPS is not as important for CM/WW as mitigation. Even with 100K HP, if you still took 20% of incoming damage, you're going to get melted pretty fast. Shoot for at least 85-90% mitigation and you can run with 30-40K HP even on MP10.
Reflect shouldn't even be the biggest issue for you. Try facing Electrified+Arcane Enchanted at point blank range and watch how fast your HP disappears.
Bagstone already said most of what I was going to. Basically, get more armor and/or resists and it makes RD much less annoying. Also, while their shield is active, don't cast EB if you're taking too much damage. WW will return a ton of life but EB is what's killing you.
Your LoH is pretty high, which should make it a bit easier, and your HP is fine. Higher HP will only really help against burst damage but if you're dying to RD, having 5k extra life is only going to let you live a little longer but the result will be the same since you seem to take more damage than you gain back in life.
I run MP10 with a bit over 700 resists and 4100 armor and I notice RD while their shield is up but it's not too bad, even with 220k dps. Then, once you get them frozen, their shield will fall off and you can dps for all you're worth.
Really I find electrified mobs much more annoying, especially with nightmare.
^Nightmare+Electrified is really the bane of any melee build that's not 100% immune to crowd control (hell, I occasionally even have my Archon duration reduced to nothing because of the constant fear).
Also, you can try Blood Magic as well to recover a little something back. On MP10, I usually run Blood Magic with my SNS build anyway (though I do play with Electrify MW sometimes for a smidgen more DPS).
Yeah, BM will help against RD and survivability in general. Blur also helps against RD as well as a few other things (maniac and molten explosion, arcane sentries, and of course normal melee attacks). I prefer to gear for higher mitigation so I can use Teleport, which I find much more useful against elites in general. Also, wormhole makes it easier to rack up kill streaks I generally prefer UA over blur for SNS because my EHP isn't high enough to survive a maniac explosion even with blur, so UA will at least save my life on occasion.
Thanks everyone for the responses, so basically I need more mitigation, could use some extra defensive and LS skils for the time being. Yeah I really didnt die to ANYTHING, but RD mobs, Arcane's were difficult but then I got the hang of it and started evading them with teleport. Ill see what I can do, but im definitely gonna start getting more all ress and armor.
Btw, Jaetch and Foroese, I sent you both friend requests, woke up today to find some more stuff sold on the AH and thought I might invest it on my Wiz, I can basically do anything with my DH anyays. So yeah, if any of you guys are on and willing I would love to get some advice on what to get.

Hope to see you in game,
And once again thanks for the feedback
PS: Sorry for double post
I'll probably be on some tonight, depending on how much work I actually decide to do. I'm always happy to help if I'm not doing anything, and most of the time I'm just on to check AH due to lack of time to play.
^ Because at some point or another you'll want to feel like you're in total control of any situation, God Mode if you will, and just blow things up and loot everything with one hand tied behind your back.
Seriously people, why on earth are you all seeking to make this game boring. Ofcourse you can go outgear everything and faceroll through the game, but is that any fun? What happened to adapting to the situation and stop dps when the mobs reflect, wait a few seconds for the reflect to go off and then hit em?
If the OP has got no trouble at all except for reflect dmg, he just needs to learn to play. I don't mean to say you are noob. I'm just saying you should evaluate the situation and handle accordingly.
If I wanna play a strategical game, I go and play SC2 or something else. D3 is hack'n'slay, and less about strategy (D2 hat little, D1 no strategy at all). Everyone has a different definition of "fun", and a different definition of what makes the game "boring". Calling out "L2P" on Diablo is just... wrong.
It's like some people play racing games but actually hit the brakes 99% of the time; I like racing games where you're really just racing. No brakes, ever. (That's why my all time favorite racing game was POD - you could literally hit accelerate 100% of the time and win the game.)
It was amazing the efficiency that I ran MP9 with, however, all the fun and frozen wonders ended when I encountered a Reflect mob. I managed to kill myself faster than I ever thought I could.
