I'm an Archon Wizard pulling like 200k dps buffed but I still use blood magic(it gives you 1.5% loh). At this point I've got two items and one can get me 3000 life(I've got 30k) and the other can get me 180 LOH(I only have blood magic). They're roughly the same price.
I was wondering how these are comparable, or if there's just a required amount?
Furthermore, I've been considering getting life-steal on my weapon. I can get 2.5% but it will cost me 14k dps. Would you consider that worth it?
I'm paragon farming right now, though I do like getting legendaries.... I generally do MP2 and tend to die once a run but I don't really mind that. I know I wouldn't die if I did MP1 but it's just to fast a run then.
First order of business—this thread should be in the wizard forum.
Now, in Inferno the 1.5% life steal from Blood Magic is actually 0.3% after the 80% life steal reduction that comes with the difficulty level. So do the math there depending on your average hit damage, you get that much back as HP.
Archon doesn't benefit much from LoH compared to CM/WW wizards who rely on the super-fast ticks from WW to generate return for the HP. The proc coefficient for Archon Disintegrate is 0.1, so some massive 2,000 LoH is actually 200 HP returned per tick.
Life steal is a flat percentage, that's why it's so much better for Archon because the higher your DPS scales, the more life is returned to you. I highly recommend getting a life steal weapon if your base EHP isn't enough (mitigation, to be specific) to handle the incoming damage. It'll shoot your survivability way up, especially if you enjoy going "spray and pray" on Reflect mobs.
Edit: Just to add some more; I'm not sure why you're comparing how much LoH you need per point of vitality. As long as you can gain life more or less equal to the amount of damage you're taking, you're in good shape.

Do MP1. If you're paragon farming, you want fast runs. You don't want to die. Ever.
Like Jaetch said, LoH is basically useless for Archon - or at least it's the least useful method to replenish your health pool.
Just to add: I'm at similar numbers like you and after updating my guide yesterday I played around a bit with my gear. If life steal weapons are too expensive for you (you said you'll lose 14k), try "life after kill", which comes not only on weapons but jewelry, too. Jaetch mentioned this earlier and at first I thought it's only useful for high DPS/EHP builds, but actually due to the damage reflect change it seems to work much better on lower gear levels now, too.

Thanks for your help.
