Since we can now craft amulets/gloves/wrists/chest/gloves how will these new possibilities affect builds?
For example, can a custom amulet be better than a nice tal rashas? What about chest armor being better than Zumis/Tal Rashas? It seems like any item with attack speed is always going to be better than anything that can be crafted.
Related, I've asked before, and I apologize for asking again, but whats the quickest way to improve my build?
I just can't seem to figure out to get to the higher tiers.
Obviously my hellfire ring sucks, but its not affecting my ability to farm mp2, and its worth the extra exp. Basically in archon I melt everything almost instantly, and on AC2/KD3/RK I can keep archon up for a while (If I get some decent packs at the right point) Id like to get up to MP3-4.

A custom amulet was already BiS (theoretically) even before 1.07. It's just that it's so unlikely to roll that high-end Tal Rasha amulets are the best items in game right now. Since crafted amulets can roll a bit more int, and this stat is fixed, we might see some high-end wizards running around with godly crafted amulets, yes. However, it'll take you a LOOOT of crafting costs. According to Blizzard (ask the devs) the crafting recipes were made for high-end players who couldn't find upgrades anymore. I'm still gonna craft them, just because I like to build my own stuff :-)

Chests: Not sure here, but since the gap between a perfect rare chest and Tal's was quite big I don't think the extra int will make a difference here. I guess if you're on a spec that doesn't need IAS (Blizzard!), and a good roll of Tal's is too expensive for you, it might make sense.
Gloves: Crafted gloves were BiS anyways, and so are the new ones. Definitely worthwhile if you don't mind the money. The problem here is that you want trifecta or at least the two stats that suit your build (CC/CD or CC/IAS). Note that there is no buffed int here since it always could roll 300 and this remains unchanged; but at least it's fixed now.
Wrists: Depends very much on the build. Lacuni's were such a no-brainer so far because of IAS (CMWW) and MS (Archon) as almost must-have affordable items. With Blizzard becoming more popular rare bracers might become more popular, but then you need to get the 2nd MS on another slot.
Shoulders: I'm not entirely sure if a double int roll could top a BiS Vile Ward. I hope so, but I have my doubts, especially since Vile Ward have already good rolls "by default". Probably not worth the money.
=> Amulet, gloves, wrists, chest, shoulders would be my crafting priority, though I'll only be crafting amulets (the last three are not worth it in my opinion, and if I go Blizzard I'll just use Frostburn Gauntlets anyways).

Im thinking start with crafting the gloves.
Besides gloves, you should also consider crafting amulets - your's is not really a top one (low average damage, no IAS/CD). As for other upgrades, what about a weapon with socket or at least some crit damage?
If you go on higher MPs you can get rid of your ruby and/or Hellfire Ring btw, there was lots of maths recently, just as a summary: a Hellfire Ring yields about 5% bonus XP when playing MP10 in 1.07. At ~600% bonus XP the 27% don't really matter.
To be honest it depends on the roll. Gloves and shoulders are a given. You will roll better ones than what is out there now but when it comes to chest and bracers, be careful. Lucani's have that move speed that I am pretty sure the new gear will not roll. Not sure about the chest but if you can imagine how much more INT you will need to top the 9% attack speed increase... I can't see these items being better than what we have already. It will lend itself to experimenting, that's for certain.
Builds aren't really going to change with standard gear stats alone.
Min/maxing gear varieties can change, if that's what you mean, but I don't see actual wizard builds changing (other than more Blizzard spamming now).
For your personal upgrades, if you want to craft, I agree with Bagstone, craft gloves first.
If you want to buy, get a different weapon, focusing primarily on crit damage and socket. Honestly, I'm glad I sold my life steal weapon before the patch hit, it's really not that necessary anymore—I've asked many wizards and most agree that they're getting by just fine now with Blood Magic alone.

The problem is socketed CD weapons are either really expensive or do a lot less damage.

If you don't need the survivability, an Andariel's Visage or Inna's pants should give you more dps. You should save up for a Witching Hour belt for sure.
Storm Armor is far superior to energy armor for farming imo. Glass cannon is a must too. I know it doesn't sound intuitive, but a significant increase in dps will give you much more survivability than some HP and AR/Armor. I run mp2-3 with 200+ dps, 450-500 RA, 3-4000 armor, and 30k ish hp.

Innas is definitely an option, but good ones are expensive, and I think my current pants are pretty good. I was using glass cannon, but it made me a lot more squishy. Witching hours are insanely expensive.
Yeah, I have the same problem. WH, Inna's, Lacuni's all lower you EHP, even godly rolls; and I can only afford the "crappy rolls". So all of these plus Glass Canon won't work for me, I think we're in the same boat here. WH is the one you should save up for first, Inna's is imho one of the last items because they have almost zero EHP and pants is a slot that can give you a shitload of EHP.
To be fair, if you are having glass cannon problems, you need to lower the MP. You should be one-shotting the mobs and killing elites so fast that they don't have much time to hit you. If you look at my stats I mentioned above, I should be very squishy, but I very rarely die in farming runs, even at mp3.
If you are farming higher mps for keys, mats, ubers, whatever, I don't think archon is viable anymore and you should look into a CM or hybrid build. The base CM build with archon as your optional ability lets you quickly trash mobs and then switch over to cm for elites and bosses and works extremely well.

Yeah I don't understand this and would like a link. Lets say I have 50% MP bonus, and 35% ring bonus, plus half for follower ring (18%). I kill a monster worth 100 exp.
I would image I would get
100 + 50 + 35 + 18 = 203
XP.
I wouldn't see how higher MP would affect this, other than the 50% would be replaced with whatever other number. I guess if that number is large like 500%, then the calculation becomes
Mentioned this somewhere else, can't find it right now, search seems to be broken plus I'm watching soccer.
Edit: Half time, actually read AND understood your post. You're right, it's exactly like that, on MP10 that number becomes 510% (bonus XP) and therefore the 35% become really small in comparison b/c items don't scale with MP.
The issue is if the extra stats from a ring slot can bump you up another MP level. If so, then it is worth using another ring over Hellfire. Still, Hellfire can still roll decent stats, so for most people it's still better to wear, despite not being as big of an exp boost anymore.
Just for fun, I crafted about about 10 of the Int Shoulders, and actually got one better than the Vile Ward I was using. The extra int was equal to about 1k dps boost, with similar mitigation and 70 extra vit. Plus it looks a lot better, IMHO. Since it costs 75k for each craft, plus 10 Tomes of Secret, I figure my shoulders cost me a little under 1 mil for the 10 crafts. That is worth it to me, and makes me happy.

Absolutely, if you have a decent Hellfire Ring, it might work. Assuming that a 5% increase in DPS means a 5% increase in kill speed, the question is if you have a non-Hellfire Ring that gives you more additional DPS than what you gain as bonus XP on your Hellfire Ring. The 5% bonus XP are useful if you only sacrifice 2% DPS; but if you have a trifecta ring and you lose 10% DPS by equipping a Hellfire Ring, it's not worth it. I guess for most people this is not the case. However, Leoric's is probably useless for most people because of its almost zero DPS.

Tal Rasha wasn't even better before 1.07 (theoretically, practically I don't know if such a perfect rare amulet exists).
BiS gear was discussed on the official forums, in a thread over here, and I touched upon the amulet discussion in the respective section in my guide.
