Triumvirate and Cold Blooded: Does it work?

  • #1
If I'm running the critical mass build and I use cold blooded, explosive blast, and triumvirate; does the cold damage from triumvirate activate cold blooded?

No, any +elemental damage like you would get from a +elemental damage weapon or a +elemental damage soj is converted to the damage type of the ability you are using. (Ex. If you are using archon the damage is converted to 'Arcane'). All wizard abilities change the damage type except for spectral blades.

However, if you are using frost nova (as most critical mass builds do) cold blooded will be activated because that spell has a damage type of cold.

Indeed. You can also put a bow with frost damage on Lyndon to activate the Cold Blooded buff.

Triumvirate doesn't roll cold damage. It rolls arcane, lightning, and fire. You'll need to find a Tal Rasha's Allegiance to get your cold bonus for a wizard (or use Frost Nova, Blizzard, etc.).

Stone of Jordan and legacy Puzzle Ring are also two other items that can spawn with the cold bonus.

As mentioned above, this is irrelevant regarding the cold damage application for cold blooded unless you are using spectral blades.
