Need a little feed back on my gear. http://us.battle.net...84/hero/5376388
Now Act 1 is no big deal, my main problem is that my damage range is really low until the crits start happening so I'm having a problems with Act 2 mobs. (the leapers are my big pain).
Right now I'm using a Forked Lightning Build and falling back on Teleport (Fracture) and Illusionist as my safety net.
So how much gold do you think i need to farm up to upgrade my gear to get up to progress/farm Act2 (possibly Act3)? I know some days prices drop and rise and not every item is sold at a good deal but a ball park idea so I can set a work up a goal on my grinding runs.
Any useful gear picks would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance.
Honestly I think your gear should be fine for completing Acts 2 and 3, though you could probably use a little more hp or resists for Act 3. Since you use Force Armor (which is a good thing, I love it) you'll want at least 100k EHP to make the best use of Force Armor on Act 3 elites, but for Act 2 you should be fine with what you have (they hit for about 50% of the Act 3 elites).
If you're really struggling with overall survivability on most elites, you can try droppping Magic Weapon for Diamond Skin. DS+Teleport+Illusionist makes for great survivability and DS effectively can act as a second teleport against elites (illusionist still procs when damage is absorbed).
In terms of gear, your OH is pretty terrible. Granted the Int is nice, but the damage range is so small. You should be able to find a cheap OH with around 50-350 or some amount of damage that adds to 400+ with 8% crit or higher for really cheap (100k or less hopefully), even if it's blue quality. Otherwise the rest of your gear is looking pretty decent so most upgrades are probably going to start costing 500k-1mil+, but with a better OH you probably can clear most of Inferno.
As far as those leapers/burrowers, those are a nightmare for kiting specs, so don't be worried if they tear you apart. Pretty much anything fast is a pain if you can't nuke them very fast. Everything else should be pretty easy, with a few exceptions like Phase Beasts in Act 3.
Thanks for the feed back, I think I'll try diamond skin after I get a new off hand (found that one in game, and changed out my two hander) Think if I can get some speed on some boots might help my kiting out a good bit. So more EH and better OH. Will work on that today and see what I come up with.
Quite frankly you must decide if you want to stay a glass cannon or not.
In case you don't, you need a lot more Resist All and Vitality to be able to survive Act 2 and Act 3 damage. And even then you must use Energy Armor with Prismatic.
If you prefer the run-and-gun style, you should definitely switch out Magic Weapon for some survivability spell. Diamond Skin and Frost Nova are good options for you. If you choose Frost Nova, I also recommend switching out one of your passives (either Glass Cannon or Illusionist) for Evocation. It makes all the difference, trust me.
You may also want to consider Wormhole over Fracture on Teleport. The thing about mirror images is they aren't guaranteed to distract the opponent.
I have good luck with my "copies" taking the brunt of the hits but I do agree that just Teleport and Illusionist are just not giving me the room I need to stay alive (also counting low survivability).
My only big problem right now is using Forked Lightning gives me a wide damage range (low 1k to 20k non crit) and makes giving up Magic Weapon and/or Glass Cannon a toss up. Ya I get better safety net using something els but with out them I'm hitting a hole lot lower.
At my lunch I will test out moving one or both of them and see if Frost Nova/Evocation gives me what I need for the "O Crap" moments and if kill time is affected to much. Wormhole sounds like it could work for me, at least to give me more room to set up Blizzard/Hydra wall.
In my opinion, as an avid kiter, Frost nova won't help you a lot since it has a 9 or 12s CD and you can't really get very far very fast during the duration. Besides, as a kiter, your goal is to never be in melee range, and while it happens from time to time that's what teleport is for. DS+Teleport+Illusionist should be more useful than frost nova+tele since DS can act as a second teleport or act as a panic button in general. I agree that the clones are pretty dumb, but I find them to be useful more than an extra teleport would be via wormhole since the idea is to kite anyway. One teleport should be sufficient for nearly all affix types since you only really need it to get away from elites to continue kiting, or to get out of jailor/around walls before taking mortar to the face. The clones often distract the elites for a couple seconds allowing you to toss more spells in their direction which helps immensly against fast mobs like soul rippers or burrowing mobs.
I haven't tried the forked lightning before but I really like Piercing Orb or Lightning Blast (I prefer Porb since LB still seems to not hit very hard, though you can throw them out like 2x as fast). Mainly I just like spells that can pierce because it makes it easier to hit ranged mobs that hide behind swarms of cannon fodder (like those spear throwers in Act 3 or any ranged mob that runs away). LB will be better for fast mobs though, like those darn bees in Act 2.
Another option you can consider is trying the Arcane kiting spec with Arcane Orb instead of Blizzard, Temporal Flux insead of Cold Blooded, and whatever sig spell you like (again, I prefer Porb). That's the current spec I use to farm Act 3, though I have a bit more dps, but the burst damage is great, especially since Blizzard is pretty weak damage wise. The extra burst makes some elite groups much easier and also makes clearing the trash mobs more bearable. I also use Scoundrel with a cold bow for extra slowing redundancy. I don't think it stacks with the temporal flux though, but I could be wrong.
My quick test run showed that taking Glass Cannon and Magic Weapon did not really hurt my hits "that" bad. I will try Diamond Skin in place of Frost Nova after work, FN did do its job at stopping them but most of the time I had them at all sides when I felt like I needed to use it leaving me a maze to get past.
I like the feel of Fork Lightning with the out put it has its great (when it gets criting still need to up my crit) so tho 1 v 1 is a little slow, in groups it works great for me. I might try Arcane Orb, but I spend a lot of time in groups and like to help them out with Blizzard/Cold Blooded thus still raising my own output.
I will try THIS build and see if DS helps me out. Thanks Loroese and Rade for the feedback will post after I get some game time with change up build. Any other feed back or item choice tips still welcomed from any one.
