Im just curious, I see WDs and DHs breaking 100k dps when the highest dps Wizard I have seen ever was 60k. Is there dmg inflated? Or are we at a bit of a disadvantage.
I have recently been told WDs are getting buffed so I never know. Thats why I came to you guys!
we have a good amount of def/evasive skills, plus we got one of the best passives in the game(crit mass) to reduce those cooldowns, so its only natural that wizards wouldnt deal as much burst damage as dhs or wds. we are prolly the weakest as in we deal less damage but we are more resilient.
highest dps on a wizard i saw was like 250k dunno the gear they used tho i can only assume 1200wep with 200% crit and like 150+ int on it with an amazing offhand with high int gear that is perfectly itemized
Lowest base DPS, yes. Wizard actually has more trouble buffing its base damage than any class in the game - they have less damage buffs, and the damage buffs they do have are much weaker than those available to other classes.

you can fluff dps and log out itll save on your character screen just use force weapon pinpoint barrier sparkflint frost nova with deep freeze grab a frenzy shrine and frost nova 5+ enemies log out id prolly be pushing 150k if i did that with my decent gear lol
124kish just tried with all my self buffs+scoundral lol
i'm at 82k dps on my wizard right now and my weapon is only 820 dps. i can break 100k np if i get a 1050 dps weapon with a socket from the DPS calculators telling me. just gotta find the right weapon . . .
my question is what kinda set does 70k+ or even 100k... for a Wizard?
It's not just the set but spec. I was only around 50k before I got the weapon that let me comfortably change my spec to include all the buffs a wizard has access to (MF and Sparkflint, was running DS before since I had no life on hit or life steal). Now I'm just under 70k with 44.5% crit, 218% crit damage, 1776 Int, using 1h+source.
I think the key is a good double crit weapon for those using a crit heavy build. My weapon is 920 dps and has 47 crit damage plus a socket with 70%. Without the native crit on the weapon i'd need a 1070 dps with a socket to match the dps, or a 1370 dps 1h with no stats. Extra int is great but at my stats my ratio is like 4.23 INT = 1 crit damage % and I find Int to be a bit overpriced on weapons for the dps.
You can see the exact stats of my gear on my dps spreadsheet stickied at the top of the wizard forums.
On the other hand, if your abilities can compensate, you dont really need fluff dps to be badass.
I mean, if you get in the higher end of DPS and then go for an Archon build... your main ability ticks for 375% Weapon Damage every second. so that's almost four times the displayed number.
I think some DH is inflated because of Sharpshooter, but again I have no experience with them so I don't even know what it does.
Sharpshooter increases your crit chance by 3% every second (max 100% obviously) until you get a crit, then it resets to your base crit chance and starts accumulating again. So if you stand around doing nothing for 30 seconds or so you will be at 100% crit and your displayed DPS will be massively increased. But of course in a fight as soon as you attack you crit and your DPS immediately drops and starts going back up again so it's not an accurate representation of your actual DPS. If you want to see what a DH really does the best comparison is to turn SS off.
DPS number on character sheet doesn't mean much. As WW/Tornado barb you can do act 3-4 at great speed even with 40K dps so don't let it bother you. Also i'm sure i saw Wizard with 130K dps on some video, but i'm not convinced he have easier time dealing with elites in glass canon gear as equally geared critical mass/semi tank wizard.
P.S. WD have it rough atm, keeping 4 skills on cd for mana regen to be able to deal meaningfull dmg is stressing and not fun at all.

Besides, we have Force Armor, no one else does.

No idea about WDs.
