Magic Missle - Seeker
Arcane Orb - Obliteration
Teleport - Fracture
Hydra - Venom
Magic Weapon - Force Weapon
Energy Shield - Force Armor
Glass Cannon - Astral presence - Illusionist
I also re itemized some gear to increase my crit chance which is at 35.5% without my scoundrel/pin point rune, and got my critical damage upto 224%. Im currently in act 3 inferno standing with 55k dps and these missles crit for upwards of 90-140k. All I really want to add into my stats is some more attack speed.
I guess my main question is does anyone else find magic missle incredible? Positioning is key but you can clear rooms before even stepping foot in them. Drop a hydra inside the wall and let it burst the door open and stand back firing missles that cut corners like tokyo drift. When large packs converge on my I just unload all 152 ap worth of arcane orbs their direction and nothing comes out alive.
I've noticed all of these people saying they need blizzard/temporal flux for slows or that they dont have time to stop when kiting and cast a couple spells.. Also alot of people aren't going for any signature spells but for 0 ap cost, its damage is blowing my mind. Maybe its just me but sometimes I just let the mob hit me once considering I can only take 35% of my max hp per hit, tele cools down instantly, tele away and keep casting. Only time this ever failed me was in real tight areas like the sewers of act 2 or when teleport decides it doesn't want to actually teleport and I just jump 2 inches due to awkward terrain lol.
I dont talk to many other wizards about how they play so I dont know how common this build is but I imagine plenty of similar builds are floating around here but if your having a rough time with elites/rares give it a shot.
I am going to give a variant of this build a try.
Shocking Grasp - Piercing Orb
Arcane Orb - Obliteration
Hydra - Venom
Diamond Skin - Crystal Shell
Teleport - Fracture
Energy Armor - Force Armor
Glass Cannon - Arcane Dynamo - Illusionist
I love Seeker MMs but I want to switch for fun anyway. I have runspeed boots and like the burst capability of this build. Plus I have 43% crit and ~200% crit damage. My burst potential is huge with this build. And burst is what matters in D3.
I'm sure I won't stick to this for super long but its just insane how hard it hits and how little I see people using it. Extremely fun on boss fights too cause no matter where you shoot they are taking damage =)

Agreed. In chaotic group fights I love seeker MMs. Sometimes I play with Witch Doctors who love pets (not all do) and the screen is chaos. Half the time when they summon the pets I shoot or teleport thinking it is an enemy. And I don't want to break that reflex as it keeps me alive.
Ive tried this build before and seekers are great, gotta love seeing all those monsters get to the ground before they even know ur out of the room, except for against invulnerables, against those ur prolly better of with piercing orbs or arcane orbs celestial.

I tried something like that in A3 and while it's perfectly viable, I just hate to have 3 attacking spells on my bar. Also, being highly AP-dependent and having to invest gear budget and 1 passive into AP management is another reason why I stopped using this build.
There's nothing in this world that the Piercing Orb + Venom Hydra centered build can't handle. (Well, there are couple of bosses, where this build sucks. But hey, we all spec into Archon for Iskatu and into Ancient Guardian for Rakanoth for the first time, right? So that doesn't count.)
I am currently using the exact build right now. In some areas I switch out MM for shock/piercing orbs. I like the build a lot. It took me a while to be comfortable getting away from using diamond skin and blizzard, but I'm doing well now.
I have a question about your crit chance. 35% is awesome, I'm trying to re-gear for high crit chance and higher crit Dmg. When you have time I'd love to see a screen shot of gear if you put it up. Outside of that what pieces of gear do you have with the + to crit chance and how much on each. What I've been looking through on the AH, I haven't seen anything that would add up that much. Probably items that are outside my range of gold I guess.

Seeker has the advantage of letting you shoot accross the map even if you don't see the ennemy
Quite useful sometimes
