Okay so I just wanted to clear things up for myself and hopefully you guys can help me. What exactly am I looking for on a weapon to be most effective as far as damage goes? I've heard Highest DPS, Highest weapon DMG, etc. and I want to know once and for all.
Example:
am I looking for a high Red, Blue, or Green value? Mixer of 2? all 3? please explain if you can.
1 Int = 1 Int
1 Avg +Damage = 2 Int
1% Crit Chance = 20 Int
1% Crit Damage = 2.5 Int
1% Attack Speed = 10 Int
1 Vit = 1 Vit
4 Armor = 1 Vit
1 All Resistance = 2 Vit
+1% Life = 9 Vit
does this stand or ...?
Those values are likely very relative to your current stats. For my current gear level, the dps values are close, though for me 1 crit% = 11 Int, and assuming by +1 bonus damage you mean +1-1. If it's just +1 min damage, it's half that int value.

Guys :), just check my topic with the spreadsheet used to compare weapons also it is counted like this
DPS = ((X + ((O + P)/100)*X + ((G+H)/2)*D))*(1+I)*(1+P))*(crit chance/100)*(crit damage/100)
X=DPS shown on weapon
O= Intelligence without the weapon
P=Intelligence shown on the weapon
G=minimal offhand damage value
H=maximal damage value
D=Attack speed value shown on the weapon
I=Other attack speed bonuses/100
P=%dmg from skills/100
EDIT: added crit
I think there's an error in your calculation. If I'm reading it right, you're multiplying your weapon dps by your int modifier, then adding the OH dmg. You should add them first, then multiply by the int factor.
For damage purposes, as high Red number as possible with Intellect on it. In my gear (1088 dps onehander, 70k dps with force+glasscannon),
1 intellect = 40 dps
It scales REALLY well at high gear levels.
Intellect is not calculated into the weapon dps (red number) so its "invisible" bonus damage.
So if you get to choose between a weapon like:
a ) 1050 dps + 22% attack speed
or
b ) 1020 dps + 150 int
Then pick ( b ), because that's 6000 extra dps right there.
I originally posted some erroneous data. My %AS for weapon is only about 3.7 Int per % so 22 %AS = 82 Int.
However, depending on the weapon speeds, option (a) could still be better than option ( b ) if you're talking about 1h+OH. For my gear, if weapon (a) is 1.5 attacks/sec and weapon ( b ) is 1.3, I get about 800 more dps from (a) than ( b ) but if (a) is 1.4 attacks/sec weapon option ( b ) is better by about 70 dps. In short, when OHs are used, the math gets complicated.
Example:
am I looking for a high Red, Blue, or Green value? Mixer of 2? all 3? please explain if you can.
Thanks.

Someone who is good at math, go on it and review this.
