Only a couple days left 'till release and I'm still running over skills trying to figure out what direction to go. Here's my take on a glass cannon wiz build, any suggestions?
I went through a couple variations, my biggest concerns being defense and AP availability. This seems like a good balance. It seems to me that success in inferno will be largely defined by what gear you have.

Skill and tactics is always going to be a huge advantage.
no single target spells... electrocute and desintegtrate are only good at lage packs.. what about bosses?
no armor spell or "blur" passiv, no frost nova... sounds a bit squishy to me
Single target is allright, Familiar attacks the same target you do. Disintegrade does alright damage and Time Warp has a 20% damage buff as well.
Strictly speaking though, Wiz is lacking in the single target department in general unless you pick Ray.
I have a funny feeling that most bosses I'm going to end up switching out disintegrate for ray of frost. Unless of course it's an add-heavy encounter, but even the skeleton king didn't need a lot of aoe.

I do agree that there are few true single target skills for the wizard. I think that with the buffs from glass cannon, familiar, and occasionally slow time should compensate for that. The build is definitely fragile, but to add defense is to remove offense. I think that I will have to rely on gear to fill the defensive hole.

This. In a video, Jay Wilson said that in Inferno, you really need a single target spell for the elites and bosses. Oddly, I checked and it doesn't seem that the Wizard has any single target spells, with the exception of magic missile. Interesting.
Based on my beta experience Volatility will lose a lot of effectiveness in team play vs solo. After they moved Electrocute to level 15 the next viable source of AoE was Shock Pulse w/ Explosive Bolts, but I noticed a huge drop in the AoE proc in team games because you don't always land the killing blow. Explosive Bolts has a 100% proc rate vs Volatility's 35% chance which is roughly 1 in 3. So not only do you have to make sure to be actually killing the mobs (which is pure luck most of the time), but also you are fighting with the rng that is built into the rune.
Convergence would be great while leveling up and then swapping to Intensify at level 59 would net you better results in team games.

The probability of landing the killing blow in a team game with disintegrate was something I had not considered. I'm starting to think it may be wise to replace it with Ray of Frost runed snow blast. It would give me single target damage and with the buffs would be over 300% dps with slow.
I think Cold Meteor is probably better if you are going to go meteor but in this build I don't think meteor is very good. I only really think it is any good in Arcane Dynamo builds if even then. But I am assuming meteor does the dot over 3 seconds not 78% per second for 3 seconds.
I also think critical mass is not very good in a build that just has teleport and slowtime, if you are going to use critical mass you should have more abilities with cooldowns, like archon, wave of force, frost nova, diamondskin, explosive blast or mirror images...
Not really a huge disintigrate fan but I think thats more of a personal preference.

Needing single target damage doesn't mean you need a single target spell. Disintegrate for instance is solid single target + AOE.
I think this will be a good build in hell. But i would change disintegrate with ray of frost.
Disintergrate (w/ Intensify) should still be better because of the extra AE potential AND the ability to "Punch Through" and hit the primary target, whereas Ray of Frost cannot. Disintergrate is really, really good to get casters, archers and summoners who tend to put other mobs in front of them.

Will this create a crappy build in the end ? Maybe But familiar + enchanted W + Glass canon passive, is the biggest damage boost.

Or Disintegrate + Intensify.
Excellent point. Uprated post. Changing Volatility to Intensify has been in bouncing around in my head for awhile now, when considering team play.
Totally agree. Another excellent point.
