Wal-Mart is a pure wizard.
Southern States is a battlemage.
Wal-mart naturally has things that Southern States carries, but not much.
However, Wal-mart could incorporate all the merchandise within southern states. The problem is, that it would take up an enormous amount of space, and force them to remove other more popular items from the store. The customers who come to Wal-mart have little to no interest in products sold at Southern States.
So keep Southern States out of wal-mart. If there is enough demand for Southern State products, then build a Southern States, do not ruin the Wal-Mart.
best anaology ever? i literally got an anology boner. well said
i never said i disagreed about it not being "melee" i agree its alot more of a battle mage type. and not that effective, but i will test it. who knows it might be bomb.

Nice analogy however,
Wal-mart found out that a large number of their customers wanted some items from Southern States which they didn't carry. And demand was great enough that Wal-mart decided to stock 2 of those very desired items to keep their customers happy and did a complete inventory overview and decided which items were the bestsellers and which had poor sales. Tough choices but eventually they only had limited shelf space.
Wal-mart could have ignored their customers wants and continued selling only items that fit into the pure Wal-mart experience but at the expense of potential sales. After all Wal-mart's focus is to provide customers with a great "all round" experience to maximize profits and less about championing the ideal of the pure Wizard sterotype.
If can't make a good melee wizard build is because you're damn dumb.
Whats the point of melee wizard? Stronger spells at the cost of lower range. Thats really simple.
Also, avoid using Eletrecute as a argument for anything. It is completly OP right now... Eletrecute deals more damage then Energy spenders like Arcane Orb and Energy Tornados. Freaking OP.
But i agree spectral blade is way to weaker for a melee spell in a fragile class.
They just buffed the every living hell out of every melee wizard close range skill.
uhm...? no they didn't. lol.
it said nothing about buffing wizard skills in the beta patch. post where your getting this from
rofl i just looked at the skill calc. they NERFED his melee skills. big time. super nerfed the life regen and the dmg. now its even less likely a melee wizard will work.
in fact it seems every class got a nerf to skills besides the monk, which got a buff. nice

They got buffed, by not being nerfed to oblivion.
1st we have to share skills with a ridiculous flavor build that somehow shares the same skills we do, and now it seems the retarded mage, aka melee mage aka battlemage, will do more dmg than the legitimate wizard.
Give me a bucket to throw up in...I am not sure this game is even worth playing anymore, at least not as a wizard anyways.

i don't see how that is true? a lot if the wizards spells have tons of high damage. and the melee life regen is way too low to be effective in inferno, so he won't survive. so a long -distance wizard still will beat a melee wizard in damage AND ease of beating hell/inferno

I am not a troll. The battlemage concept just straight up sucks, but if people insist on it then there should be a battlemage class. Though I doubt demand would ever be high enough to merit it. So the wizard gets stuck piggy backing this ridiculous concept.

Why are melee wizards retarded? Why melee wizards aren't "legitimate"?
You should be the one offering buckets to people throw up after they read this horrible post. Melee spellcasters are not just cool, but a fundamental tadition of Diablo series. All diablo games have melee sorcs. And in the Diablo cannon lore MAJORITY of spellcasters shows physical prowess.
I really dont understand the hate on the meleewiz. What is it you if its possible to play as a melee wizard, even at the highest difficulties? Noone are forcing you to do the same, or even play with anyone that does it. Anything to put variety and different ways to play into the game imo.

You sound like a ignorant troll.
Ignorant about fantasy land??? lol, that stings.
I cant speak for D1, but in D2 its effect on the standard wizard was next to nil. And now...lol, they are trashing a good quarter of our skills just to make this flavor build work. So I am with you, I want to go back to the old D2 tradition, keep the melee wiz in perspective, and keep it small.

Enchant sorcs was popular and powerful.
And theres only a single melee oriented skill for the wizard (Magic Weapon). Spectral Blades Is just a mid range spell, not properly a melee one attack. Also, theres no Passive Skill that supports melee wizards alone.
So I truelly don't know what you're talking about.
There was no Buffs to skills, and no Neff to skills.
For every competent game developer, balancing of classes/skills should be among the last things you actually do before you're ready to ship. The game is not out. Any one in beta is helping to test the game. All the info we are seeing is complements of blizzard's largess. They could easily have slapped on an NDA and restricted all this info.
The goal here is to ensure the player has a fun game to play, in normal as well as nightmare and beyond. Did you think it would not require changes to dmg percentages?
As for the melee wizard conversation, if you pick Spectral Blade as either a primary/secondary attack, you're a melee Wizard in D3. Don't see a plus or minus either way. Just a style of play.
"For every competent game developer, balancing of classes/skills should be among the last things you actually do before you're ready to ship."
That is true.
"There was no Buffs to skills, and no Neff to skills."
That is such a horribly false statement that gets spread around like a virus. First off, just because the game is in the beta does not mean those two words lose all meaning. You could possibly argue that its only a nerf/buff for testing purposes or just a nerf/buff on that beta build, but that is just arguing semantics. And secondly, its equally absurd to insinuate that we cannot use the large sum of information acquired via patch notes, and testing to form a fair judgement of the potential of skills.

To each his own. We are discussing a game that is not out yet, that no one outside blizzard has played beyond level 13.
Constructive criticism is one thing, as is a concern.
Your exact words in a post were
Give me a bucket to throw up in...I am not sure this game is even worth playing anymore, at least not as a wizard anyways.
Even if you are in beta which I doubt, there are many testers who have having loads of fun. And many more of us on the sidelines eager to play the game. You can use the "large sums of information" available to provide civil and constructive criticism. Otherwise... I really wish you would give up on the game, your toxic comments benefit no one.
I have played the hell out of D2 and the melee sorc wasn't viable. Was I able to take out diablo clone? NO. Was I able to melee meph, baal, diablo on hell? NO I don't even ask myself running chaos tristam as a melee sorc...
Was those enchanted weapon good and useful, yes, on normal. As soon as I got to NM or Hell... this wasn't an option.
If they are going to make a battlemage/melee wizard, there should be better skill to customize it, not only 1 and a half wanna be option melee wizard
I was thinking about this the other day, and the conclusion I can up with made me question the concept of a melee wizard.
When I think of a melee character, I generally think of two requirements.
1) A character who stands at the front line.
2) A character who primarily relies on melee attacks for damage.
Now look at the current concept of the melee wizard. She does stand in front line, but only slightly more so than a standard wizard. And through lower difficulties, spectral blade does seem to kill things. But what of higher difficulties? Spectral Blade, the only melee move for the wizard, hits for absolutely diddly.
The only way you have any hope to actually kill things is to use some other offensive spell that actually does the killing, while you stand in melee pretending that spectral blade is anything more than a bad joke. Meanwhile the wizard gets polluted by spells that otherwise sever no purpose, just so a small minority can imagine themselves as a melee wizard.
I agree with you that spectral blade is a terrible skill to rely on for damage. But I've came up with a really good melee wizard build... most/all of the damage does NOT rely on right-clicking enemies.. but ALL the damage DOES rely on physical-type dmg.
Now this is a HC melee wizard build... so it is modified to be more defensive than I would make a SC one.

Some notes: I still melee attack.. this build is for weapon/sword ; melee attacks is what regenerates my mana
Basic damage: Put up diamond armor (on a 10sec cooldown), teleport in the middle, and spam explosive blast
Wave of Force + melee attack to regain mana
