im interested in the melee/beams build would be quite interesting to see put some multi rues in the beams and you get death and carnage... and if anyone is interested im not interested in pvp.
This is going to be a game worth FIGHTING for. LOL. those skills runes are CRAZY!. Should try the whirlwind+ the rune that exlpodes things. Oh man that is going to be off the HOOK!.
Does anyone know if the skills will be like in Guild Wars where you can have different builds on the same character? Those of you who played GW would know what the heck I'm talking about. ^^; You can take away and add points when and where you needed them depending on the build. I really didn't like the fact that in D2 once you had one build, you would need to make another character to play another build (ie: I had an Ice Orb Sorc and a Fire Sorc).
This kinda explains why blizzard made auto-stats. In their mind, it would make too many variables to characters, and would make things confusing and not enjoyably to the majority to players.
WHOT, will the damage of spells just do around 1-10 in damage!?
l"aunch a volley of 3 electric bolts that deal 1-8 lightning damage each. Critical hits from lightning damage stun targets for 2 seconds."
I want skills that can do much more damage, so it is more vary, like a spells in its max level maybe does 2000-10000 dmg and not so small damage area.
Stats increase the damage obviously, but that kind of damage would be overkill, I don't want classes again that can spec out those kind of damage outputs because it destroyed much of the game much like the hammerdins did with diablo 2.

You can respec but you can't do it like guild wars (think wow system respecs).

I think thats pretty obvious specially when you look at some of the wizards skills that rely on increase via your characters stats, it would have made for awesome variation but would have left a many people confused, it is a pity they didn't keep stats though because we could have made some very interesting wizard builds.
i dont like the spectral blade skill at all.... i hate how it looks and the sound. would be cool if they could change that a lot
I personally only reckon it was made for physical immunity monster reasons, I keep looking at the skill for some use right now and I just can't see really using it unless its more useful then it appears in the grand scheme of the game.
I can see most my points going into the passive skills on the conjure tree though and the vast majority into the lightning and arcane trees, if these skills interact with how I hope they do I reckon things like magic impact, weapon mastery, empowered magic, storm power, lethal energy, arcane power, penetrating magic, etc will make wizards very powerful with high end equipment.
i think they should still incorporate the every skill level has a max. ie lvl 20 for diablo 2. not this some r lvl 5 soe r lvl 15. way to much like WoW : /
Well, for some skills it makes sense. Like, remember Telekinesis? There's no reason anyone ever gave that more than one skill point. Not saying that's in Diablo III, but I think my point still stands. Maybe
.... So not only do they change the name to wizard, but they change skills to talents... and they wonder why we're worried that WoW will influence it too much.
Good ol' Blizz, selling out diablo one feature at a time :/.
All bitchings aside, I'm quite happy with the skills they made :D.
Looks like it will be fun to play !
Holy shit, just read it more in depth and WOW, this skill tree is insane.
Even though there are skills that are directly out of the warcraft universe, this is still going to be one versatile character.
Honestly, with runes added in, there are going to be a ridiculous amount of builds... *salivates*

I'm guessing its all the same but I didn't check. Anyway, I do not like many of the passive skills. It seems like the emphasis is being taken off off items. Combined with auto-stats, it should make for some pretty predictable gameplay. And why does the wizard have a passive to increase health? Might as well give barbs a fcr passive. Items people. ITEMS! Definately making a witch doctor.
And
Shattering Ice
Rank 0/15
Frozen targets take 2 additional damage from all attacks while frozen. --Not Yet Implemented--
I'm expecting to be able to do damage in the thousands in D3. Are they seriously adding an end-game talent that adds a pitiful 30 damage (at the most) and at that only for frozen enemies. It would have to work frame by frame to be worth even close to 15 points. Maybe instead of diminishing returns it will be the opposite. Who knows. My hope is that the amount of additional damage is totally made up at this point. Every aspect of D3 is amazing for me right now except the wizard. not impressed at all.
Anyway, I had this rant in my suggestion thread already. I'll save you the rest.
Also, last screenshots I saw, skills were a max of 5 not 1. That was for barbarians but I would assume wizards will get that as well.

Apparently freezing yourself is fatal. HOW ARE YOU PEOPLE COPING?!

No that's not a active skill. Shattering ice is more of a passive skill, your cold spells will "freeze" targets slowing their movement. And if you have shattering ice as a passive skill you would do more damage to a frozen target, of course the 2 damage will probably change, but thats the idea behind it.
So yeah for right now. Say you have frost nova that does 40-50 damage. Then you have max shattering ice and you freeze the target, every frost nova done while the target is frozen will be for 70-80 damage instead, which is a quite large percentage of damage increase.
Yeah I see that its a passive skill. I said it adds 30 damage. Only while frozen. But I expect my main attacks to be doing damage in the thousands. So thousands + 30 damage is not worth anything near 15 skill points. The only cases I can see this being awesome is either +30 damage per frame (doubt that) or with skills like charged bolt (each bolt does small damage so +30 might actually be significant). I can't help but think whoever posted the skills just made up a value.

I doubt it'll stay at 2 damage though, would it be better as 2% damage? Then at the end it would be 30% more? Or even 15% more would be nice.
You're basically right though, the values were VERY on the go kind of thing, just for blizzcon to give people a idea of their ideas. Most of them just say "x" or whatever.

I hope they change it up for something more like the two harpists in Kung Fu Hustle -- THAT was some spectral blade!
One word: WOW. Definitely rolling the Witch Doctor.
