4 or 5 skills each tier. tiers at lvl 1, 5, 10, 15, 20.. no lvl 20 skills are in yet.
11:25 Rushster: there are no dependencies of skills. but you need 10 points in a given skill tree to enable skills at levle 10, and then 15 at lvl 15. etc, I assume.
11:25 Rushster: this is all subject to change, of course. during further development.
11:26 Rushster: there are a mixture of attack and passive spells. in all trees. and damage types vary. wizard has masteries that increase casting speed, all types of damage, critical hits in types of damage, provide physical and magial armor. boost weapon damage, etc. huge variety. looks likea LOT of different builds will be possible. melee wizard for sure.
So, this is interesting..its a completelt new skill system, but it actually sounds cool to me
the name just sounds childish. it looks as though they just gave it one minute thought of giving some original name to a character in D3. omg, I wonder what will they name the other 2 classes...

I disagree. I think the name "wizard" is a well-established class name in fantasy, and I don't think it sounds childish.
Lasers go pew pew, I seriously like the Wizard. Such cool looking spells so far, and I've heard through the grapevine that there are lots more. She has 60+ spells is what someone from Blizzcon told me. Let's hope it's true!
The more I think about it, the more I think the new skill system sucks...you can no longer save up your skill points for high level spells, you are forced to waste points on low level spells to access the high level ones, even if you'll never use the low level spells in the late game. I don't like that...

Lol personally i like the new system (if they put low level spells to be good as high level spells, like in WoW).
Something i ever hated about D2 was save points. It's the prove of a broken skill system.
I want to say I'm happy for everyone that is excited about this class. It's great you've found something you will enjoy playing.
That being said, I am very very disappointed. This class really really strikes me as BLAND. It's the same boring stuff I've done in games for years and years already. The same spells as D&D and countless other games (having gone through the released list of abilities as well as the gameplay video). I'm just not interested in playing the same character AGAIN.
That being said, perhaps something will come in the next 2 characters that will knock my socks off and I'll say "Oh...I've just GOT to play that," but none of these trip my trigger at all.

It's absolutly more of the same old thing. I really need a strange and crazy class ='(
LOL, are you people serious? ''The Wizard''??? Firstly that sounds SO GAY, like from freaking harry potter and it means that sorc or even necro isnt coming back... I'm disappointed. Please someone say is there anyone out here that thinks the same, cuz its scary if there isnt, lol XD
I really see no problem with it at all. You've complained about everything that's been revealed since the announcement- lighten up a little Wizard is a perfectly suitable name.

You do realize that in all three games their skills have always been based on D&D skills? There are enough new skills with the class, a new makeup, new spell mechanics not present in the Diablo games before. It's all good and moving forward.
That said, I love the new class. Every RPG game I've played, I've always gone with the casters and never gotten bored of them (the Sorceress is the only class I play in Diablo II, and I've been playing it for 8 straight years.) I don't see how they were uncreative by any means- It isn't humanly possible to create an element or magical principle that can't exist, they've all been done through history with mythology and folklore and gaming of all kinds. The fact they they introduced new spell mechanics is a very good thing and innovative on their part, since it would have been easy to stick with just basic elemental spells from their prior games.
Thasador here reporting in about the Wizard. I was able to play for a few minutes with the new class: Wizard. The only available Wizard was the female and boy is she joys of fun. With a strong list of spells in including the following skill trees...
Arcane
Skills such as Teleport, Magic Missile and Arcane Orb, this tree reflects all power up skills and skills not of the elemental variety. Using magi to increase your arcane power, sending a wave of "force" at your opponents and the all mighty teleport. Storm
Charged bolt made way back to Diablo III and as well Frost nova and Blizzard. New skills such "Tornado" Thunderstruck and Electricute. No needed details of those...pretty much self explanitory. Conjuring
Hydra comes back in force with this skill up'ed a few extra steps. Spectral blade is the starting skill for the wizard as she sends slashes of energy at a targeted opponent that creates splash damage to others. Mirror image is a new skill as she is able to create multiple duplicates of herself when combating demons. Meteor or "Meteor Storm" comes back improved as a volley of metoerites crash down from the heavens at a designated area.
Overall, she is the spell caster of the group and has a very strong position in the roster for Diablo III.

Those before me shall quiver in my wake as I unleash the fury within!
The Witch Doctor is that. It's all you get. The next two are going to be a knight and rogue. This is Diablo after all.
No ranged class when we've seen bows drop? Unless you think the rogue will be a ranger/rogue hybrid (which for the record could be right up my alley if implemented correctly).

Lol, I'm not angry at all, but I just see that d3 will be more wowish. Dude, come on, you need to seriously admit that the name does sound kinda lame even though you think the character is good. Wizard just sounds to simple and boring and actually the class is more of the same. The only character I would play so far would be the barbarian, because the two new classes are too simple. You remember that I hate the witch doctor too, lol.

exactly, in a ''fantasy'' like harry potter :D. Anyways if you like it ok.. but for veterans that played all diablo games it kinda sounds gay.
Your entire experience with fantasy is Harry Potter? Wow, you must be be fairly young.
I'm a veteran of D1 and D2, and I don't think it sounds gay.
LOL, no I just brought the most cheesy example I could think of. Anyways, ok then, enjoy it...
Are you asian btw? lol. No offense intended.

Yep, thats what I was meaning to express ))

Obviously some people will enjoy it and that's great. I'm just hoping the same thing doesn't happen with the next two classes as well.
