I decided to start as a wizard this season and use the DMO set to farm up a bit. I like the play style but I was wondering if it could still push this season? I haven't got to put much time into him yet but here is my character Xander. Not sure how I can tweak my build, survivability at first seems low but picks up quickly and I feel almost invincible (on T6) highest rift I've been in is 47 I think and my damage seems lacking. Not sure if I need to got for Compass Rose, Traveler's, and COE. Or if I should go for Focus, Restraint, HFA. I'll lose the DR while moving but I'll get the Damage increase nearly permanently. Any suggestions?
Also: I'm not a fan of the Energy Twister build cause I believe the corner trick is a little cheesy, although at times taking more skill than I have.
(Picking up Pieces of Firebirds, and Tal Rashas on the way. Just in Case ^_^)
I'd love to know how viable DMO is, as well. I found myself getting all the gear required for the build, but I'm not sure whether I should keep using it or just try my best to find Firebird/Vyr gear for other builds in case that DMO build is no longer the best for Solo play.
If you want to boost your survivability, you could slap an Aquila Cuirass in your cube over goldwrap and swap Glass Cannon to Arcane Dynamo. Arcane Dynamo's buff affecting all 4 explosions of Arcane Orbit is pretty solid, plus you don't have to sacrifice toughness to get a damage boost that way like you would with Glass Cannon. Also your build doesn't really benefit much from the Evocation talent, maybe you could grab another defensive there
DMO is nice to feel tanky, but it sure is liberating to not rely on slow time playing other sets XD
It also isn't pushing as high in GRs as firebird archons are now
Been having trouble completing a 70 with a DMO/orbit build (ancient unstable scepter, most of the rest being non-ancient). But then, I barely cleared a 70 in 2.4 with this build, so I may not be the best reference
I just tried a ladder rush at the start of this season with my arcane orb DMO wizard from last season. GR 80 worked on first try, So GR80+ is a solid goal for this build. But after this trial i changed to the Archon-Builds, since they are so much stronger.
my verdict: arcane orb is viable and tanky, but not useful for pushing.
