Welcome to my Set Dungeons Build Guides and Videos!
You can find general information and Set Dungeon guides for the other classes at my Set Dungeon Thread.
This thread lists the builds for each Wizard Set Dungeon and associated Mastery requirements, and each build has an attached Video of the Mastery clear. I found the Firebirds Set Dungeon to be quite interesting in terms of setting up your build and items to hit a sweet spot in terms of damage and toughness. The Delseres Set Dungeon was a little tedious due to having to hope for good monster spawns in order to clear certain objectives. Overall the Wizard has the highest difficulty dungeons.
Difficulty - Easiest to Hardest based on my own experiences (your own attempts may vary!)
If you have any questions, feel free to comment here or in the build guides themselves.
Hmm I'd say the Firebirds Set Dungeon purely due to Haedrig's Gift dropping the full 6 set very early on. As noted in my build guide, it does requires specific optimisation to be able to master it, so you will need to go through a trial and error process.
If you don't feel like doing Firebirds, I'd recommend Tal Rashas Set Dungeon as it is gear that you would likely use for Torment farming and the playstyle is exactly the same
Thanks for these by the way, very helpful in getting through the 4 wizard's sets. Tal Rasha is definitely the easiest in my book if you have the pieces for it. Firebirds can be very frustrating due to mob health and having to lower your sheet damage to avoid killing them too fast.
For those interested set dungeons only for the season journey requirement to master one of them, which of the wizard set dungeons would you say is the easiest to master?
The Vyr-Set Dungeon ist quite easy because it is not about a tricky playstyle or doing things exactly right and it can be outgeared and outfriended.
The things you need to do are:
Stack archon to 100. A certain belt gives you up to 50 at the start. The laser beam stacks so fast, its done quickly.
Kill 300 Enemies in archon form. With a build made for high archon uptime, this will happen automatically.
Kill everything in time. This is quite tricky solo because those fallen minions run away all the time, and chasing them costs time. Just take someone with you and let him kill the stuff that you missed while you go for the big groups.
Doing Vyrs Set Dungeon with a partner takes every challenge out of it. Pretty convenient if you only care for the season journey. You partner does not need to know much about the dungeon or special mechanics and there is no timing and cooperative actions required, he only needs to be able to kill stuff, so even a random guy from the chat will do it.
While I found the Vyrs Set Dungeon to be pretty simple, it is only because I played Vyrs in Patch 2.3 when it was the strongest Wizard build. It has a very particular playstyle which takes some practice to get used to and for you to know which rotations and skills to cast. I actually used a 2.3 patch Fazula's Chain so it only started with 20 stacks instead of up to 50 that the current 2.4 patch Fazula's Chain provides.
At the very least you need the Fazula's Chain and an Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac on top of the Vyrs set, then you need to learn to Arcane Torrent on top of monsters to reset the cooldown of Archon. I'm not sure on whether you need the Chantodo's Set as well or if the damage is sufficient without it. You also generally need to gain some Arcane Power somewhere and have some cooldown reduction on your gear, so it's not as easy as you think it to be, I'd rank it as a middle difficulty set dungeon, made slightly easier if you have someone helping you.
I really have no idea why Blizzard decided to let people assist you with Set Dungeons so I never recommend it in my videos, but even if someone is assisting, you still need to get 300 kills yourself in Archon, so you can't just let someone else kill stuff for you.
I definitely rank Tal Rashas as easier to Master than Vyrs, you don't need any specific additional gear outside the main Tal Rasha's Pieces, and you can just spam 4 different skills. The only thing that makes it difficult is the unpredictability of the Rockworms that pop up out of nowhere.
I was requested by people to recommend the easiest Set Dungeons to do, especially for the Seasonal Journey, so I've gone through each of the classes and ranked them based on my own personal experience. Note that depending on how comfortable you are with the class and set, as well as gear and RNG in the Set Dungeons, your experiences may vary!
If you plan on keeping and/or using your Firebirds gear, I wouldn't re-roll it for the sake of this set dungeon! Your idea of crafting a yellow rare wand is great, so you should've just crafted more yellow rare gear on your supporting slots and re-rolled the Vitality off those, rather than ruining nice Firebirds Set gear!
As you can see in my updated video for the Firebirds Set Dungeon, it's possible to do this without the Talisman of Aranoch if you are good at spotting and avoiding attacks from the monsters (I feel playing Hardcore helps with this as well). You don't need to lower your toughness if you're running without the Talisman of Aranoch but you will take fatal damage very easily so it is way more challenging.
OP said I should freely add my videos to the bunch (I mastered all set dungeons), so for any of you interested in seeing another view on how to solve the set dungeons look at my contribution. Short explanations in video descriptions itself.
