Hi ive been trying to farm for than ancient SS since season 3 release and still no luck. I understand that alot of luck is involved in getting an accient SS but wanted to get some ideas on the most efficient way to do it
- Farm high GR - Then use Blood shards on Kadala
- Farm lower GR 40-50 - then use blood shards on Kadala
- Farm T6 and use blood shards on kadala.
I've mainly been farming on GRs but im starting to think that just farming T6 Normal Rifts would be more efficient.
Cross out "Farm GR 50+" from the list. Everyone spend too much time doing a 50+ GR, there is no benefit in time spent/loot relation.
Im looking for an ancient SS too, I farm 42 GRs with my group (3 dhs/my wiz or 2 dhs/2 wiz), or T6 rifts solo. I found this was the fastest method of farming.
Dont even really bother to spent your shards on Kadala. The odds are so low, it's abysmal. Spend your shards on 50/7 Taskers instead.
Otherwise, just speed run 40s. I was paragon 600 for my first and only one. rolled minimum damage, vitality, and area damage. Absolute garbage. Still waiting for another.
Would have to agree with the rest, 40-42 are the best. If you got a good group and can go higher, swell. But make sure that the group can clear _every_ grift under 3 min. And that should be the really shitty ones, the good and decent should all be under 2 minutes.
Going higher then that is just waste.
Imagine if you go up to an averge of 3 min per grift from 2 min. Thats only 20 grifts per hour instead of 30. If you go even higher and get an avg. on 4 or even 5 min per grift. Thats only 15 or 12 per hour!
I've counted in the 30 sec delay to close the grift. That would however mean that 2 min avg is actually 1.30min clear. so more realisitc is prob 2:30 min avg. Not sure what the pros can push this to though...
1. Put some time and effort into pushing the highest GR possible for increased blood shard cap. 40 will suffice, 50 is preferred. Don't waste time on it though, stop doing it the first rift you can't complete.
2. Find a group of 3 more players and run ~42 grifts. This is where the 250 bs cap from RG starts. Anything over is a waste of time, anything lower yields less rewards. Farm and hide keys for 4x runs (**). If groups are hard to find, prefer groups that play and don't wank in town. A less efficient group is more effective than being in chat, looking for a new group.
3. If you're running solo, run the highest GR you can, while maintaining 2-4 min clears (some GRs are always slower than others). If this puts you at GR 32, then so be it.
(**): Hiding keys: Google it, or ask your group. Most players know how to do this by now.
What you should prioritize at kadala really depends on the rest of your gear.
This is an interesting topic that. I've also been looking for an ancient SS or AW. Why are people suggesting GR low 40s instead of full T6 clears if the consensus is to not gamble at kadala? Is there a higher leg drop chance for these things from a RG over just full T6 clears?
I seem to find that clearing T6 full on average, yields just as much, if not more than a RG kill in the low 40s and you don't have to farm trial keys to do it.

rng is rng but for me. Ive never done a 40+ rift without getting atleast 3 legendaries. I usualy get 4.
Ive done many many t6 rifts. Full clears. Even with goblin rifts, where ive got 0 or 1.
And for me on my barb atm. i do a 40 rift nearly the same speed as a full t6 rift. Unless i get a tiny 3 level one
So for according to me. Its better to farm 40 rifts rather than t6 full clears.
finally got mine at paragon 852. i did all the counting.
27 days of gambling 1handers straight.
~440k shards.
the 27th one was an ancient one from kadala.
she gave me a nice one 3.18k damage.
i have this silly theory but it could be just pure superstition. the longer it takes for you to get one, the better the roll will be. it was obviously miserable trying to get it but i was really happy with how it rolled. i honestly beleived that the RNG wouldn't allow me to get a shitty roll after waiting for so long.
i still stand by my theory of you always gamble your GG weapon. just forget trying to upgrade your armor/set pieces to ancient. chances are you will get them ancient before you get the weapon you want along your journey.
I have ancient SS & AW. I can say AW > SS if you're trying to push progression. You're going to be fishing with both, however, with SS - you're literally banking on no shit trash mobs, and no shit elites on the first floor(s). You can't really skip elites efficiently w/ SS. With AW, you can survive more elites while killing the mobs near them, and then bounce immediately away from them.
Got one this morning guys. farmed 40-45 GR 3min runs. And used shards on Kadala, Used about 5k shards and got an accient SS. I guess im one of the lucky ones.

But all in all. Rng is a bitch from time to time

I've found 4 this season. I've given away 2 to random people who needed it in my parties (one of them being last night).
691 Paragon.
Shards are worthless
T6 for loot
Run T6 with 4 wizards (something you can't do with 40s grifts) and share loot
i will tell you my story
i am 730+ paragon and was looking so hard to find my ancient ss,farming speed gr40+,farming with friends wizzards
my final ''numbers'' was 14 non-ancient,11 droped to me and +3 from friends
from this 11 kadala drop 1 the crappiest of all
and the magic 12 i got it from a t6 rift farming solo the last 2 days cause i was loosing my patient
