Well hello there, since i'm tired of looking for an ancient SS and not getting one i started experimenting a little bit. This build is what i came up with and to my surprise it puts out really BIG damage. It favours GR's with good density though.
The goal of this build is very concise and to the point, spam meteor shower on big groups of mobs without stop, this is assured by a good cindercoat, good rcr% on gear / paragon, and last but not least, 4 APOC on the source (and also some abilities/passives). The style of play also makes keeping up Taeguk pretty easily which is a borderline overpowered gem in most situations. If the group of mobs is big enough, you can just spam meteors the whole duration of your 4-stack Tal Rasha buff. Also the abilities to build the TR stack are almost mana free and do not have a cooldown (wink wink taeguk).

Well, i don't have a good gran vizier yet...or a good furnace for that matter. But if you remove the Cindercoat the meteor spam would decrease a lot and also the attack speed would take a big hit, which affects the speed with which you regenerate the AP...but yeah, it should be tested once i get a good ancient gv/furnace just to see how it goes.
Concerning Zei, i was using it till yesterday when i decided to try the taeguk. The decision to change it happened when i figured i would never get the full benefit of it due to our WD not being able to set the BBV buff for the party at a suitable distance, forcing me to come closer to the mobs each time, or for example(and this can happen a lot) we need to stand just in THIS little safe area cause everywhere else there's poison on the ground...or pathways neraby which can lead to nasty monsters jumping at us the dps, so we must lose the Zei buff forcefully. I'm aware the Zei is a big buff but it's positioning issues made me look elsewhere, and Taeguk really impressed me, since i can keep the buff up forever if careful.

Why not use GV?
I believe someone made Furnace work too, with enough RCR elsewhere.
Also, Zei is a huge buff, why would you ever drop it when not using Hydra?
