Wanted to switch it up from always using my DH to try to push so I've been trying out a TR wiz. Is there a rotation that best maximizes damage? Right now I open up with Electrocute for Dynamo stacks and to proc Bastions, follow up with Blizzard for BotT, then teleport Calamity then drop a Mammoth Hydra. First question would be does the hydra snapshot all those stacks or does it not matter? Second question would be what's the most effective use of Calamity? Teleporting close to a mob has never worked out well for me. Are people just teleporting from one safe spot to another to proc the TR stack?

For a beginner spec I'd recommend using the wicked wind hurricane thing as arcane spell. Or star pact meteor (quite nice because you are likely to have a ton of + meteor damage anyway).
The calamity spec is a bit different because it requires the use of the frost armor + ring to effecitvely stunlock your targets. While you can proc the TR stacks by teleporting to random locations, you are not able to proc the meteor like that since you have to actually hit something for that.
Also, when you're just starting to learn to spec you could try playing with another passive than Arcane Dynamo since it complicates your rotation a bit.
IMO the most fun spec is 3 piece Delsere's with 5 piece tals and RROG/Convention of Elements. Stack Arcane damage and use an Ancient Gesture of Orpheus Arcane % If you can get your hands on one. Delsere's bubble with 3 second stun is awesome when you are solo. If you are in a group use the 15% damage boost version. with 4 piece bonus of delsere's and tals 4 stacks Time Warp ticks for 300m and when the Arcane buff from convention of elements is on that doubles. Time warp also adds a stack to your tals (counts as an arcane spell), it also procs the arcane meteor while using NO Arcane power, and it slows down enemy missile affects making them easier to avoid. It also applies cold/slow debuff for your Bane of the Trapped ring. Overall the utility is fantastic. I wish there was a way to use the all slow time runes helm with these combo, but alas there is not. Anyway with this build I use Magic Missile Glacial spike, AOE does okay damage, and has some CC. Procs cold meteor and gives back AP on crit since it hits many targets. Lightning Crash rune for meteor to spam meteors, Mammoth Hydra just for the fire damage and the fact that hydra only costs 15 AP. Your Arcane damage comes from slow time. I can push Grift 50 solo with this build and easily do 55+ with groups.
If you're going the range tals spec with F + R, I find it best to use black hole instead of calamity for your arcane procs. This gives you crowd control and the proc at a distance. BH and blizzard-frozen solid basically lets you lock down a pack of mobs until it's dead. The BH also triggers strongarms.
When I'm in a group I run with a lot I actually dropped teleport for BH (kept magic weapon) and use unwavering will instead of illusionist. Solo I can clear 46/47 with this spec but much higher the teleport comes in handy to get away from certain affixes. In the group I'm allotted the time to stand still and nuke so it works out well.
