Like Horazon already said, not much for wizards, i have a good furnace on live and i beat 40 with 2,6m dps, tested PTR with Serpent sparker + firebird's off.hand and tasker/magefist with 3,4m dps and it was about the same speed or even a bit slower than furnace, so if anything wizards now have a bit more options on how to fire and forget, but still the same boring gameplay.
Oh and now you have less than 100 yards for the dot, if you move away too much it stops dealing dmg until u move closer again... i think i'll use a rimeheart build until the delsere's set in 2.2, firebird is too boring and unfortunately it got no face lifting action like raekor or marauder.

SS/Firebird OH on PTR does a lot more damage than a furnace from what I have tested between the two. It Wasn't even close, especially on single target enemies. SS/OH does open up some build diversity and gives more overall stat boost. But like said above, not much has changed. TnT is still mostly worthless since AS doesn't scale the damage, magefist outperforms it and even using Firebird gloves opens up a couple other set build options and a couple other gear slots open up to go with FB.
These are just my results from the PTR and What I have tested quite thoroughly. Not bashing or anything.
Thoe I agree that its overall small changes comming directly to the wizard class,
The new wizard ring is amazing!
The new defensiv legendary gems are amazing!
Unfortunately, that ring is weak, and Wizards are the worst class in 2.1.2..provided nothing changes.
Well, the thing about 2.1.2 GRs is that density is much higher, there are more Pylons, and incoming damage is far, far, far lower.
You can go higher in 2.1.2 with a Wand of Woh, compared to high 30s to GR40 on live. But so can other specs. I was testing (not full clearing, mind you) on GR46-48 with my wizard on the PTR and I can say it's definitely doable with the current cookie cutter spec, even without ancient gear factored in. It shouldn't take a wizard five minutes to kill a RG on GR43 (as per your video). That's about as much time is required to down a GR45-46 RG solo with Firebird on live (from experience, I need around 4:15-4:30 to kill a GR44/45 RG depending on map layout).
Most classes are hovering in the high 40s on PTR, and I'm sure once players get a little more optimized with ancient gear, low to mid GR50s can be soloed.
That said i still stand by this spec beeing alot better in this patch and there is still a long way from trying 46-48 and beeing sure you can get it down to realy getting it down. Also why currently only two wizards on the PTR non and season has managed a 46.
Because few people would actually "waste" their time fishing for the right GR on PTR. Why would you do that when you'd do the same for live and actually be a part of real history there? All you need to do on the PTR is test a few builds out, get a good feel for any differences in GRs on PTR and live to know what's possible.
Just look at the Top 1000 for every class. Many are in the teens for the lower 1% of the leaderboard. Does that mean every class got nerfed compared to live? No. It just means no one is wasting their time trying to place high on a leaderboard that everyone is going to forget as soon as the Patch launches.
I can guarantee that if I sat down and dedicated as many hours to the PTR's leaderboard as I have on live, I'd clear GR46+ in my current gear. But again, I'm not going to waste my time when I could be testing things or progressing in the live game instead.
The new wizard ring and gems are going to be Season-only? I was hoping bracers and legendary item changes were the season-only items. Ring and gems looks like it will be fun for those of us interested in D3 without being completely interested in clearing as fast as possible at the highest GR (no knock intended to doing so )
edit: bleh, yeah... ah well, all item changes are seasonal only.
I did some testing and crafting devastor as ancient seems a legit way to go for in 2.12, also in contrary to common (and untested) opinions, I have the notion that even though AS now affects mammoth is doesn't directly apply to DPS output linear. What do I mean, it seems to me that mammoth lava doesnt stack, so even though a screen full a lava and faster attacks def. are useful I personally lean towards magefist for direct linear DPS increase. Also blizzard mechanic seems nerfed somewhat, to the point that what in theory should have been great with almost instantaneously application of max DOTS, just doesn't feel right. Maybe some subtle nerf of amount of stacks could be reason.
Firebird, SS, FB OH, T&T. Mammoths go nuts, they spaz so hard you'd want to call EMT's. They easily go well above what they can do with that setup on live. Problems are the usual, gems. Only Toxin has real synergy with the FB, and Banes are too unreliable in solo. In group, trapped + toxin + enforcer works wonders.
New ring, I really like. Wizards need a lot more than a "new top spec" right now imo, and Hydra change was a part of that. This ring however, even though it might not be the best spec, will go for my Frost Wiz that is waiting for something to happen.
Audacity, Cold Blooded, Blur. Unstable Anomaly, and a Hellfire with (Glass or Elemental Exp.) might have a potential for Sleet Storm - Frozen Storm build. Magistrate, Frostburn, Krelm Bracers (Duh), Winter Flurry, Rimeheart for damage or Azurewrath for tanking. Tal Chest is great for something like this, maybe can go for 3 parts (Chest, Neck, Waist) but WF is too good to drop imo.
Too many empty slots to juggle for now, but I'll try to squeeze in Tal for as many freezes as possible, plus the regen helps with laser builds. (Storm build, in this case.)
New XP gem is crazy as well, so I'll try to combine 700 paragons in season and non season when S2 hits. So far, S2 looks good, and they have certainly improved their season mentality.
New season items are better overall, all have promise if not downright OP like new Wormwood or that DH bow. (20-25% all damage on Entangling shot. Might contest the slot with Krider but I'm not the one to do the math.) Compared to old S1 Legendaries, well, we all know how useless that wand is. (And appareantly its a common item because I was getting that thing more than a Blackhand Key for crying out loud.)

Is the 100 yd range for all mobs or just Rift Guardians?
Another thing is, would it not be much more efficient to try and craft an ancient Sunder? From what I remember blizzard doesn't take attack speed into account, and neither does hydra (this one is going to change though, I think). I made some calculations and it looks like an ancient Sunder with good, but not best, rolls is going to be a much higher dmg boost over an ancient devastator+firebirds eye+magefist instead of firebird gloves. For comparison - a good ancient devastator gives me ~15% overall elemental dmg increase over my very well rolled Maximus (1.15 aps changes to 1.2), and a good ancient Sunder gives an almost 40% one (1.15 into 1 aps). EHP is a bit lower though (4% increase instead of a 20% one, in case of my gear of course). Isn't it much better for a fire wizard to have a slower but much harder hitting weapon? I think I'm gonna try my chances with 2h instead of that puny devastator tomorrow ^^ With Maximus I have 91% fire dmg increase, so another bonus from devastator/eye/magefist doesn't do that much.
As 2.1.2 is in the corner im turning to you for some advices.

i did not tested the PTR, however im interested in whats going to happen?
is t worth to drop furnace and instantly craft an ancient? i have maxed dmg furnace so it would be hard to drop it.
If we need to craft ancient then what? 2 hander or 1 hander + offhand?
Will hydra come back with Tasker?
Thank you in advance for every opinion!

Sure is, but EB itself is sub-par. So you have to give up Unity to wear it...to power up Wand of Woh-type builds, that remain...subpar. /shrug.

Really didn't expect to be so lucky, especially since I've been looking for a second unity, immortal templar relic and furnace for last ~350 plvls.
