We want pet survivability to be roughly equivalent to the player that summoned them.
Many monster attacks that are intended to be avoided by players, and weren't already dealing reduced damage to pets, now deal significantly less damage to pets.

Yup. Been waiting for this. I'm gonna jump on my doc today and play around with a few things. I'm thinking that zombie handler might be very effective now since that's another 20% life to pets on top of the already huge life buff.
Did a 34 solo on hardcore earlier as pet doc. I still had major issues with pets dieing to mobs especially when bottle necked. On the subject of bottle necks, any grift maps with bottlenecks make pet docs unplayable. So now not only do we need to get good density RNG but also a wide open map RNG
Overall better but certainly not where we should be.
I'm not a big fan of WD pets or DH pet nor a pro about the class. But I test the new gold farming method with the gem posted on this site last week and my pets was doing "ok", I guest. for T6 that i'm not used to with a WD. But now they're just like Terminator !
Like I said i'm not playing WD a lot recently.

pets are now my new favorite t6 farming class (woo, no clicking!) faster pets and longer leash means I just have to run through the map for everything to die

bottlenecks has always been a problem. it's logically in a right place
Gonna try out the new changes tonight. So I guess solo pet WD has a better chance for higher GR now that the pets don't die as much. In addition, it's time to level up the Bane of the Trapped leg gem... cool changes. I also like to find out how the "longer leash" is affecting the pets' AI.
I did extensive testing on my pet doctor, and to be quit frank, the bottlenecking and lack of damage from pets really starts to show at 35+ greater rifts. Pets dying is no longer the problem, the problem now is the massive lack of damage output from them depending on the map and mob types/density. It was an improvement yes, but a very slight one to be honest.
Yeah, pets spec is really fetesh spec nowdays, and for the spec to work you basically have to have SMK. (unity/TMF for solo, SoJ/TMF for party)
The way pets work, the class just struggles with things that other classes find a breeze (illusionist/high density ect...). Area damage really needs to effect pet dmg for the spec to even come close to jade.
my pet doc can now do up to GR 30 with ease, but is still miles behind my jade doc which stomps around GR 36 like my pet doc at GR30.
Pets spec is now far and away the best TV-watching t6 spec tho. so much less clicking compared to anything else

this means no TMF, the ring that boost your zombie dog dmg and makes pet build viable
...
also, either TMF or SOJ for group play, u need to choose one of those... u loose a lot
u think fetish scycopanths passive pets are enough for higher greater rift play, or u rly need the plus fetish dmg on your gear working?
...
my opinion is that the need of Unity for solo play ruined pet wd without SMK
