I'd wager that a mixture of RoRG Zuni FA + FS combo with TMF would be pretty strong. 15 spawnable fetishes and 8(legion of daggers) fetishes alive all the time seems pretty solid to me. Add a dog to it and you might have a nice combo.
No real changes. Just another viable pet build has been added if you get Dagger of Darts (new legendary ceremonial knife). Pets do die quickly in upper tier greater rifts (30+), so I found that I prefer the darts build to keep my pets away from the action, and combined with the new legendary gem that gives more damage to primary skills with a bonus of healing for 2% HP on hit makes it that much better.
WD pet build is still strong but to some extent, fetishes won't be of any help(tanking and dpsing) after g.rift level 30+ or even at 28. if not for the nerf that the Enforcer gem received, pet builds would have been a force to reckon with.
As for tweak, the improve AI of fetishes, zombie and dog have been vastly improve this patch, no more models standing/sightseeing beside you.
I noticed the improved AI and so things are just getting crushed on T4, but I took a random molten explosion and died at full health and was like "uh what the?" 1350 FR, 25% less damage from elites, armor around 70% and it still did 533k damage to me. So it seems like spells are doing way more damage.
Blizzard seriously needs to evaluate what they´ve done so far. Right now Pet builds are pretty pointless above tier 30. The only reason I´m getting to 33-36 is because of my SMK. Sycopanths seem utterly worthless in grifts at the moment as they die faster than you can spawn them.
If you have a Grift filled with Executioners, Mallet Lords, Exarchs, Anarchs or Exorcists you might aswell give up. Even though my damage has received quite a substantial boost with 2.1, as I'm hitting 45-50 FA crits self-buffed on elites using Enforcer, Zei's and Bane, I can't help but feel disappointed at how worthless Sycopanths feel.
Seems like WDs won't be top-dog for now, which is fine I guess. Though I hope Blizzard will adress some of the more glaring issues. Right now the things I find most aggravating are Jailer, Thunderstorm and Electrified. I'm still working out which is optimal: fire or physical. Time will tell.

Yes I couldn't agree more. Even beyond the issue with pets, I feel the class has gone from first to worst literally overnight. You just can't stay alive after T6 GR30 unless you're sitting in town or have no dps impact on the mobs whatsoever - even with Jungle Fort. They need to fix the Hell Tooth bonus fast to give us another option. Their intent is to have Wall of Zombies encircle the mobs and keep us safe. I'm holding on to all my HT gear for when that happens because nothing I try is working for me. I'm relegating my WD to trial key farming until that happens and possibly upgrading Moratorium.
blizzard may buff pets toughness, but until then they will be somewhat fragile. this goes especially for sycophants since they are more fragile than fetish army, dogs, and garg anyways. but they aren't suppose to be tanks. they are just temporary pets meant to do damage.
there's two things i've done that help a lot. i've focused more on armor and resists than vitality. even if the toughness number goes down. the second thing is to have more cc. i switched to enchantress using her cc abilities instead of dps ones. i use addling toads with rheno and i have cc secondaries on some of my gear.
i don't have everything i want yet so there's still room for improvement. even though, some of these deadly mobs are being handled. some times they don't even get in one single attack. sometimes pets still die, but not nearly as much.
Whilst pets definetley need to be able to die, it currently is just a bit too far. Pets are pointless after around GR 30, and even sooner when you encounter the aforementioned mobs (Mallet Lords, Morlu Incinerators etc.). The devs know, and they hope to get a fix in at some point. I just hope it can be done in a minor patch sooner than later, seeing WD's are pretty useless at this point when it comes to a big staple of the builds. Sycophants take the brunt, since they don't have a force armor mechanic such as "main" pets. These will actually STILL be one-shotted by Mallet Lords, so that's not sufficient anymore.
Just gearing for CC can work for now, but most certainly is not the solution. a Rhen'ho is RARE, about on par with an SMK, so it's silly to rely on specific drops.
Here's to hoping for a quick fix, I'm pretty much turned off playing my WD at this point, as I'm stuck at a specific level. I dislike Jade, especially since I lack a good 2-hander. I might pick it up the coming weeks though before they fix it, but in my heart, I'm a pet doc.
With focus on the poison dog (TMF + 3 dog passives), pierce the veil and fetish sycophants I managed to clear 33 even before I found my SMK. Almost cleared 34 but had a really low density one with annoying mobs.
Now I cleared 34 with quite some time left (no unity) and I think 35..36 should be doable, maybe even 37 (given good enemies and some improved gems).
