Pickup Radius I suggest grabbing a Thing of the Deep here for the sake of PuR, else start to stack pickup radius until you reach 14 PuR total at least. Ring of Averice and some other accessories could help about your Pickup stat too. Max mana: TotD or any mojo with Max mana will do, getting some on your Voodoo Mask is important too. Aim to reach around 1100 mana, because it really benefits from SH rune. Increased Damage against Elites %A Stone of Jordan really helps about that issue also it adds a nice amount of elemental skill damage bonus and max mana. Health Globe Healing Bonus You can find this one on any gear piece you can think of I believe. Aim for a really high amount for this one, because you'll find plenty of opportunity to heal when you have enough elite damage and pickup radius. All Resource Cost Reduction Crucial for prolonging the ZB casts try to stack it around 15-20% Mana regenerationYour build heavily rely on mana batteries but if you really struggle and cannot kill efficiently you must think about some more upgrade for your passive mana regeneration or use the Cold damage variant of the build.
Any mojo with some and a Ceremonial Knife would really help your fast attack speed. This build created without Attack speed stacking in mind, if you want to stack high attack speed like over 2.00 aps, and crush the mobs under your finger tips, I recommend getting at least 2 different mana regeneration source on your gear.
Build Explanation:
Build feeds itself with health globes and depends greatly upon them. As long as you have max dog count, new triggers from CoL will kill oldest dog you spawned or dog that is closest to the slained foe and when this happens old dog will drop a health globe drop with 15% chance. Health globes will be easily achieveable, heals you much more often and will be more beneficial for your mana pool after you cast Soul Harvest and give your mana pool a boost of 20-25%.
Generally Locust Swarm follows a succesful Harvest cast to reduce their damage, because even thou you have dogs around you, mobs will reach for you when you are outnumbered. Soul Harvesting 5 mobs and then casting the Locust Swarm will mean, you'll halve the cast of LS while boosting your mana pool.
Another common mana battery you have is the Honored Guest. After you shook a SH, Spirit Walk will instantly fill 20% of your max mana which means 25% of your base mana after you cast a max stack Swallow Your Soul.
When both is on still cooldown and you need a quick renewence, blast your dogs away with Sacrifice and summon them again to protect you.
I tend to pick Zombie Bears over Lumbering Cold as my primary attack, because ZB has a damage advantage over Lumber, and they can be forked away to increase your damage against large groups. I for one binded a move button (as my mouse3) and I tend to move between my casts, it actually feels a bit better if you use a 2-hander but I had no problems about my source management since I use some legacy gear about Zombie Charger cost
Last Notes:
Hope you all liked what you read so far, I had a great time with this build for a long time and I'm really happy with the results and the farming speed I have.
Build:
Original Poison http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#fhUdYV!ZYXS!cZZaZZ
Cold Variant http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#feUdYV!ZYfS!bZZaZZ Since the vanilla days I've been using this build and it didn't fail me to this day. Build depends on triggers, mana batteries and hectic gameplay without boring the player in the consequences of the long cooldowns. I preferred a balanced path in nukes, source generation, pets and damage mitigation. Hope you like it.
