I'm going to start dipping into the world of HC, and preferrably self-found (only selling things in the AH to make money for crafting...no buying from AH or vendors). Of all 5 classes, I am most familliar with the WD (day one) the most, so I was curious to see who might have some tips, advice and/or pointers specific to the WD. I already read the massive D3 Forum post, so I'm looking for more insight into the WD. Leveling to 60 is my first priority, so any help is appreciated.
for starters, and i'm not trying to be a dick, ditch the self found idea. reason being, i was doing it for a while, i was havin fun, and out of the blue died in act 2 hell... you simply can't find the gear required to push forward in hell. i mean, do what you want... but you'll spend weeks farming nightmare, and for me, that isn't any fun.
now that that's out of the way. i started the same way, self found, barely found anything to even sell on the AH, so my time self finding was rough. the WD is a well rounded character. if you're familiar with the skills and passives, it should be a no brainer as to what to pick. spirit walk, garg, zombie dogs, jungle fort, spirit vessel. the only real pointer i can give you is just take your time.. don't go gung ho, try to stay ahead of the curve. clear all areas, clear all caves, and your level should stay around where it needs to be not to have any issues.
BEWARE: act 2 NM / hell. they both can get rough quickly, i've lost multiple barbs there, and both of my WDs i lost in act 2 hell, and NM. always stay moving.
from what i've noticed, the more DPS the better... if my current WD dies, i'm gonna try another one, and just straight put on what adds DPS... not gonna worry about pick up radius, or anything else of the sort.
also, stack vit where you can, but don't sacrifice TOO much DPS for it... it's better to burn guys down quickly than take unnecessary hits. a WD can stay away from guys and still max the DEEPEEZ. and from what i've seen playing, ditch skills like plague of toads, and spiders... well, spiders aren't that bad, but it's slightly delayed damage. stick to immediate damage like darts, or firebomb. other than that, losing a character isn't the end of the world... even if you die you keep your stash, so keep a few low level DPS/vit boosters in there and just have fun... don't spend any or all of your gold on the blacksmith / jeweler, it's not necessary til later, and that's only if you wanna craft. jeweler i'd say is worth it around mid NM. any other questions or concerns you can toss em up here, or find me in game or PM me. cheers, and enjoy yourself my friend!
