MP0-2 Wave of Zombies > Zombie Bears?

  • #1
I've noticed several MP0-2 farming videos using zombie bears as the elite group killer, and every time I see this I wonder "Why?"

Zombie Bears deals a lot of damage (up to 708%) but it is a really touchy spell. You have to position yourself in a way that funnels all 3 zombie bears onto the target. If your positioning is off, all three zombie bears could miss, and you end up spending a lot more casts to kill the target.

Wave of Zombies is an alternate zombie charger rune that deals 115%x3 damage (345% total), approximately half of zombie bears. All three zombies are guaranteed to spawn directly in front of you, so if you are next to an elite all three zombies will *always* hit. 345% damage is significantly better than the 236% of a single zombie bear. You don't need to worry about being out of position where your zombie bears aren't hitting. You'll always hit.

In my experience, Wave of Zombies clears low-MP elite packs much more reliably than zombie bears. While you never get the same amount of raw damage, you don't need it, low-MP elites are extremely fragile. It's more important to have consistent damage so you can kill it and keep moving.

Not a bad idea at all... though I really don't have any problems with making my bear hit what I want... only issues I have are fire mages, and occultists... but that's because they're always moving. This causes me to spirit walk on top of them, and thus ending the battle quickly. I'll try it anyway... always up for a change of scenery :)
WD - mostly other chars are toilet... my pride and joy ;D http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/SirBoneselot-1182/hero/1672627

Just tried it, didn't like it ;) Thanks for giving me the option though...

We all wish that we had more than one rune for our WD :D

However, if you're set on dropping that low in MP I feel there are other skills that do what you need alot easier than charger. Low mp for example is Acid Cloud + PtV heaven or Locust Swarm or 0cd Pile On :)

    Just my 2c

Agree with above post. We do have better options than bears in lower MP's :)

I ran this in place of bears for my locust build in MP1... it's rather effective... I tend to play more 'up close and personal' so it wasn't bad... I think the consistency in damage is nice, but you can't beat the raw power of bear...

On my HC self-made (non ah) WD I prefer to run MP1 Act1 with my Acid Rain build (2h weapon with 1600loh, alot of %disables) Acid Rain got tremendous proc chance so i can tank them and "freeze/stun/immobilize" like all the time...

Tho im affraid to progress further since i don't have Aress gear yet :
