MP10 Crater 2 'Scorpion-only' run by WD (80M-90M xp/h)

    Taken from EU forums

    Hey all

I recently done some testing about Crater 2 runs. [MP 10]

    Strategy:

You need to be tanky enough to survive elite packs there. At a large pack of Scorpions, you can reset your cooldowns easily so that part is cakewalk. (Scopions have low hp, so dps can be lowered aswell)

-> Summon dogs always for damage absorb.
-> Spam Horrify and Spirit Walk whenever possible
-> Use harvest+ Bear at scorpion packs

( Corpse spiders not really necessary for this run, i just got used to it )

    Build: http://eu.battle.net...YdXU!Tea!bcbcYa

If you somehow die by a hard elite pack, just leave/restart , no point to run from the beginning.

Without MS bonus item/skill, i got 80M-90M xp / hour at testing.

Im sure with better def gear and MS stuff, this run can be improved

Try it out and see how easy to get good amount of xp.

For me, this works like a charm... Damn near same build I use for general game play and MP 7+ farming... The horrify rune i've rarely used, but after trying this, it may be a main skill for my mp10 build... Thanks for this!
WD - mostly other chars are toilet... my pride and joy ;D http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/SirBoneselot-1182/hero/1672627

I have yet to understand why those scorpions award more experience than some normal monsters...

They don't. They just happen to have the best HP/XP rate. There are different kind of normal monsters; huge ones like tremors, normal-sized ones like bloodlords, or small ones like skeletons or scorpions. Depending on their strength and HP, these monsters appear in different numbers; and since scorpions (and also skeletons in Keep) have low HP, they always come in large numbers. However, throughout the act the amount of XP per mob increases; mobs in Skycrown or Keep yield less XP (on average) than crater. The scorpions are the last "low HP" mobs in act 3, come in large numbers, are relatively easy to kill, and thus give the best XP/hour rate because the tremendous HP bonus of MP10 doesn't affect them as much as, for example, phasebeasts.
