After watching broken barbarians steam the PTR and taking a couple minutes per pack of elites, it has me questioning my "glass cannon" build. Since i cannot link things yet, my tag is Nazzaroni #1880 on us severs. I was contemplating a more LoH heavy gear set up and completely ditching the pick up radius (since you can't blow through trash to keep up spirit walk near 100%). Gruesome feast also doesn't look too appealing any longer. Anyways i was just curious as to others opinions and if anyone has had the opportunity to test out the PTR.
If you're looking for efficient farming, don't just assume ML 10 will be the thing to do. Unless changes are made, it's much more likely that lower monster levels (exact level depending on your gear) will be the most efficient thing to do.
If you're just interested in the challenge though... I would suggest lifesteal on your weapon.
Ruppgu is spot on. The MF gains aren't really significant enough to justify spending anything above 20 seconds on an elite pack.
I think Blizzard really wants the ML addition to be there to allow greater flexibility for the way people play, not to create a new endgame at ML10.
The outlying people will benefit most from the ML changes - those struggling in Act 1 with no money and those with 200K dps who are one-shotting everything.
For everyone else you might bump the ML up slightly, or use it to farm something other than act 3 for a change (if Act1ML8 = Act3ML3 or something like that). I'd be excited just for the change in variety.
Oh, almost forgot leveling alts faster. This system is truly sweet.
Going to be getting on the PTR as soon as it's up - hopefully Monday.
I expect to use the same build I'm using, which seems to be as close to a cookie-cutter as can be nowadays with the pickup radius and GF/GI, and try farming Act 3 increasing difficulty each time until I hit the sweet spot between survivability and killing speed. I suspect this will be something around level 4~6. Although just thinking about Vortex Jailer Phasebeasts has me thinking I might be skipping some elites at that level.
On the little time the PTR was up, I gave ML10 a shot, and I had difficulty killing Demon Raiders and pretty much everything else. Mind you I have 140k dps fully buffed. So yeah, not really the nicest place to farm.
I agree with the statement that ML10 will be completely inefficient if you are playing to farm. I mentioned in attempts to re-dfine some builds. I notice many witch doctors avoiding LoH/Life Steal because they can simply burst things down. But Infernal Machine seems it will be more of an endurance situation, and wondering how others will attempt this.
I feel that Monster Level 5 will be a good spot for most people, and it will make some passives such as Vision Quest actually worthwhile.
