It should be noted that because I got some life leech on my weapon, i dropped hedge magic for Jinx for Hex. Makes reflects dmg mobs a little more trouble but not too bad, and Jinx is just too good to pass up.
I thought I'd add a couple of videos for people who many be interested to see how this looks and plays, or for those skeptical of its usefulness. I go through all of my current major stats and gear pieces in the first video, in case you'd rather listen to me explain it than read that TLDR post ;-)
1.
The second video is me getting a 5 stack and killing Belial in 1.0.3. The third is farming Whimseyshire.
My version differs a bit just to fit what i like to play with, but the basic idea is the same - http://us.battle.net...ZURP!UVW!aYcZaa
Pile On and Fetish Ambush are retarded with this amount of crit
LOL DUDE!!! Funny timing. I replaced Fetishes with Pile On last night and had an absolute blast (I was just clearing Act I, since the drops are best there at the moment--I'm hoping it will still be viable in late acts!). Pile On can LITERALLY one-shot certain elite groups in act I--1 million+ crits! Amazing stuff.
yeah this build works really well right now, i changed fetish ambush for Pile On as well. It's really good except when i meet a reflect damage pack and kill myself really fast when i cast pile on and it crits
Finally made an account and wanted to thank you again for this build. It has helped me tremendously!
Glad to hear it buddy! Let me know if you have any questions in the future. I'm tweaking things all the time. Turns out this build is viable for killing Inferno Diablo! It's obviously not ideal but I wanted a build that I could get a 5 stack and kill Diablo with, and this works for me at this point. However, I use Fetish Ambush like in the videos, not Pile On like I do in early acts.
I just got to Inferno at level 60, and I was using this build before then to get the hang of it and all. I really like it. Anyway what kinds of stats on gear should I look for, for survivability? I think I can do enough damage for Act 1 Inferno, but elite packs are usually killing me.
Ideally what pieces of gear should these stats be on?

Glad you like the build. Hm...as for suvivability--you don't need too much resist all in Act I. Mobs are very slow in Act I so the more dmg you can do the faster they go down (hopefully before they even get to you). In that first video I link I go through my stat decisions very specifically. I have an older video on my channel from when I just got to inferno, and I show my stats--you can check there and see what kind of resists I started Inferno with. Good luck man!
Ok, I have hit the next wall of my Inferno journey: Act 3. I am getting owned. No other way to put it. How did this build treat you in Act 3 and what changes did you make to accommodate? I think I may need waaay more resist gear but I won't be able to afford resist all gear + crit pieces. I refuse to use real cash on this game beyond buying the disc lol
edit: I also wanted to add I am a bit wary of this spec and its reliance on crit gear. It seems like the stat is becoming extremely popular for most classes now...which means...a nerf is probably imminent. Gold is tight on me lol. Just the risk I need to take then?

This build works great for me in Act III at this point, but when I was going through Act III for the first time I was still in a darts build. It was HORRIBLE and took FOREVER and I had untold deaths. But here's the thing: Act III is weird because it actually gets easier when you get to the large open field and the bridge. The keep was by far the hardest part. I think if you're dying all the time it must be your resists being low--I used to be able to take only two spears and now I can take around 6-8 (depending on how hard they hit). You have two options--buy better gear ($$$) or just suck it up and power through the keep (maybe in a group with someone who can tank successfully) so that you can play the much better second half of the act.
I understand your concern about crit but here's why it will be hard pill to swallow if Blizzard nerfs it: they knew how much crit. and crit damage was possible to get on gear. Yes, they knew the same thing about Attack Speed, but they failed to realize HOW MUCH that would add to dps with just a few pieces. I have 50% crit and 289% crit damage increase and my dps on my character sheet is 50k, but I have crit on every piece possible. There were Witch Doctors with 80k dps before the patch and DH with over 130k dps on the sheet with only 3-4 pieces of IAS gear. IAS was MUCH too strong in terms of boosting dps per item.
50k dps does not seem too out of balance, and I think my build would top out at around 75k dps (I could definitely go higher if I spent 50 million on every piece of gear but that's just not feasible). Blizzard is really hesitant to change the stats on items after the IAS outcry, and because anyone could have done the math at Bliazzrd, they knew that any class could get more than 50% crit chance and 399% crit dmg. I did that calculation in under 20 minutes just finding max crit values on gear in the AH--SOMEONE at Blizzard knew this.
I DO think that Blizzard will include nerfs to stat stacking in PvP because otherwise it would be no fun (if my bats crit for 300k, even with 90% dmg reduction a Barb would get hit for 30k from one bat! Two bats and he's dead, which I can do in a Spirit Walk or Spirit Vessel cooldown!) This might mean diminishing returns, or just hard caps on secondary stats--they'll just have to be careful that it doesn't penalize one way of gearing over another (e.g., if they nerf crit for pvp, they'll also have to nerf stacking primary stats, LoH, etc.)
Alright, thank you for that. I just reached Ghom today (I got a tank) but the poison kicked my butt. I'm going to look into buying some resist + crit gear where I can afford to. How much LoH are you running with right now ? I am definitely keeping my eye out for it (reflect mobs).
I am currently experimenting with using Wall of Zombies in place of Grasp of the Dead. I found I was using grasp more for the DoT effect since any mobs worth kiting still zipped through it with the 80% rune. At least with the Wall the mobs have to move around it, get bottlenecked, or can completely be stopped from moving forward in corridors.
I only have it on my weapon--something like 2.4%. Life % on hit is GOOD with a crit build, even in inferno, becuase though it's nerfed 80%, it still heals for 1000+ when you hit those 250k crits! It's not enough to make reflect dmg mobs painless by any means, but as long as you are creative with strategically picking up health orbs, it works well enough. I should get an amulet with a good LoH to swap in for reflect dmg mobs.
