at what point is it better to go for a lower dps weapon with much better stats? consider like a 1600 dps weapon with no stats vs 1400 dps weapon with sick stats.
i tend to be looking more at damage range and stats rather then DPS. (if both are withing 10-15% of each other in dps)
Also when i compare a weapon i take the melee swing (remove a mouse click skill to reveal) then i multiply that by my primary stat multiplier to se what damage range the weapon has. after that i add the APS and totaly ignore crit and crit damge i just se them as bonus damage, not a figure to check my real damage.
So Melee weapon hits mine is 399-1088 (1h and mojo) my int is 1423 and then you multiply it by your skills weapon damage modifier. and then multiply it by your aps.
so ((399+1088)/2)*14,23*(0,6*3)= 19044 per dart spam in pure damage.
and now to factor in APS mine is 2.89 atm so 19044 * 2.89 =55035 DPS and now you can factor in crit damage if you lilke.
and it is this last number 55035 DPS im looking at when figuring out what weapon to use.

1)
Here an example of 2 weapons with same DPS and different AS (the one from the top is 1.4, the bottom one 1.2).
Violet = is the number that you will see in stats (+2 k dps for fast weapon, hurray)
Orange = min and maximum weapon maximum damage from which skills are calculated. And next to it some examples of spell's damage (hurray to slow weapon)
Teal = average damage, including crits, but ignoring attack speed (created for comparing damage of each spell)
I just switched to a weapon with lower dps and my overall dps increased by 7-8k. It was a big change going from a 1.2 speed weapon to a 1.5 and also a bunch of extra crit damage and int as well. It was more than enough to make up the 50 dps gap. Like wo1os suggested... use the spreadsheet.
