I was wondering, with the item affixes being revealed, I saw there that the top end of damage reflect is ~2500%, that means 25 times the damage afflicted.
Now that's only 1 item, you can have it on about 8-10 items (I didn't care to count, and on some items it's "only" 1500%), so that gives easily 200 times the damage taken is returned.
With the Fierce Loyality passive, this can be huge (remember the 170k hitting monster?).
So, I guess the question is, do you think it's viable to hoarde dmg reflection items and mass summoning or there is something I am missing.
It might not be the fastest way, but might just be the easiest.
as a big fan of thorns (free damage is my style) i was amazed to see the numbers that high, but a lot of the high tier numbers were pretty crazy. the last tier of +vitality could give something like +100k life or something if stacked, and that's just one mod. i thought that the thorns numbers seemed a little dubious considering the damage output of the mobs in inferno, so i won't get too excited until we see the actual values on release, but if they're accurate then my barb is going defensive and stacking thorns all day.
From what I saw on the datamines, thorns will be a fixed #, not a %. I mean a 19000% damage reflected back is a bit much. Personally, I hope it is, but I doubt it. I will be putting together a suit of thorns for a Fierce Loyalty pet build (its only 17 slots in stash), and possibly for PVP against Barbs and Monks.

I want to travel to exotic places, meet interesting people. And then throw spider-filled jars of pottery at them.
The numbers in the guide are most likely not percents of the damage dealt as we'd assume. It's either a typo in the guide, or a percent of the base thorns damage. Most likely a flat number, and for some reason they mistakenly put the % signs in there.
There's multiple spots in the guide where they had % signs for stuff like this, when there really shouldn't have been. It's very strange. For example when listing cold damage affixes, it's listed as "Adds 1-4% Fire Damage". The top tier of that is "Adds 143-667% Fire Damage". If these percentages are based off the weapons damage, it seems way too powerful, which is what leads me to believe the % signs were incorrectly placed in the guide.
*Edit* Just checked through my guide again, and it seems that I was correct in assuming these numbers were flat rates. It seems like for some of the damage types(Fire, Cold, Holy) it's listed with the % sign on the end. But on the next page(Lightning, Poison, Arcane) , they are all listed without the % sign, but have the same values. I can only assume it's the same mistake made on the Thorns affix as well. It's weird that they made such a glaring mistake in the guide and nobody caught it.
Thorns kinda seem way too good. I smell a nerf a coming....

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"
Thorns affixes will most likely be only useful for WD Thorned-pet build and for tank-ish Barb (since tanking Monk relies more on dodges, isn't it?). So it has to be pretty powerful to not be complete trash stat. Any pvp problem could be solved by simply reducing (by %) effect of thorns on players.

mana free. casting free.
I'd be a bit worried about how it'd do vs bosses though. If pets gets 1 shot.... it would suck there.
