So, me and a buddy are thinking up a good 2 man team based around our playstyles and favorite classes. I am almost 100% on rolling WD at release and he is almost 100% on rolling Demon Hunter. My question to you all is how do you see these two classes working together most efficiently?
I plan on running with dogs and gargantuan to give us some meat shields, and wll focus almost entirely on filling the support role while my friend deals the damage. My initial outlook on this is th DH has specific skills and abilities that react to "slowed" enemies and certain skills requiring distance to target ranges. So, I think the WD can do a great job at controlling the mob while the DH can rain down death lol.
Thoughts?

At the End of Days, Wisdom shall be lost, as Justice falls upon the world of men.
Valor shall turn to Wrath, and all Hope will be swallowed by Despair.
Death, at last, shall spread its wings over all- as fate lies shattered forever.
The best advice I can give you is to drop your thinking that you're only going to be a support role. The best thing you can bring to the group is DPS.
It's good to pick an ability or two that will be more useful in a group setting (I.E. a heal or aura or debuff). However, if you focus your entire build on that philosophy you will struggle a lot more than if you went sole dps.
Grasp + pets will help the DH a lot but focus on doing damage yourself after that instead of only thinking about buffing the DH.

DH/WD will be a great combo since the DH is a master of single target and the WD is the master of AOE. They will synergize very well. Not to say that either of them does not provide great single target or aoe dps, they both have their niches though. GL with that combo hope you have fun!
1st synergy - Witch Dr has tons of Snare abilities via Haunt (properly runed), poison dart (properly runed), and Grasp of the Dead. The DH has "Cull the Weak" passive which increases damage to snared targets.
2nd synergy - Bad medicine (with propper witch Dr poison abilities) can make it so the entire team takes less damage.
there are probably more synergies but not familiar with all the DH runed skills.
I agree that you need some DPS for yourself, if you both put some thought into CC that you use, it is likely that most foes could constantly be slowed/stunned/confused with those 2 classes.
Basically you can only fire 1 spell at a time so trying to go 'full DPS' generally keeps 1-2 skill slots from being useful in even the best builds.

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...
The best two player WD tandem is with the monk, because the monk's healing, mantras, and cc's will help out all of the WD's creations too. Plus the monk can do big damage to individual targets.
I think it is a great team, but don't go full support you will need your damage aswell
A bit of cc won't hurt but i think you should focus on AOE damage, since the groups of monsters will grow bigger and more frequent and you can't let the DH take over 80% of them.
It just would not work (especialy since the difficulty increases in multiplayer, correct?)
This is very solid advice. The DH and WD can make some insane synergies and combos, but the WD is going to have the best aoe tools between the two of you. You can have your hubby focus on killing single things while you and your meat shields soften them up.
Also note that with vault, the DH is one of the most mobile classes early on in the game. Having him running in, gathering the attention of a room of monsters, then coming back to where you are, where the two of you can fight on your own terms, will put both of your strengths to the most use.
None the less, I wish you both many fun and happy adventures throughout Tristam and beyond.

What to do:-
1.Go in search of baddies with the wd.
2.As soon as the enemy is spotted, use sentry which will last for 80 seconds.
3.Call your wolf companion.
4.Use rain of vengeance and empty your hatred globe by using rapid fire.
5.Use evasive fire to gain 12 hatred after every 3 shots, and then use frost arrow which costs 10 hatred to freeze enemies in a cone.
6.Repeat step number 5 until all enemies are dead.In case any enemy comes close, you will backflip using evasive fire which will now cost only 2 discipline and give you a movement speed bonus for 2 seconds.
7.Wait for all cooldowns to be over and start looking for the next bunch of enemies.
Passives were really chosen in a hurry,so never mind.

What to do:-
1.Call down zombie dogs and the gargantuan.
2.Spot the enemy, and use mass confusion.
3.After the effect of mass confusion is over, use zombie wall to stop the enemies who will now waste no time charging you.
4.Now you have 4 skills on cooldown,so vision quest will be active.
5.Use locust swarm on different targets until only one-fourth of your mana remains.
6.Wait for 2-3 seconds for mana regen with vision quest which will regen your mana real quick.
7.Spam firebats which will seek out targets and hence help in spreading locust swarm.Locust swarm is runed for pestilence which makes it jump to 2 enemies instead of one so you will be spreading a lot of locusts.
8.If zombie wall, which has the lowest cd becomes active again, you will lose the vision quest benefit so use zombie wall again.
9.Wait till all cooldowns are over and start looking for the next bunch of enemies.
Again the passives were chosen in a hurry.
These are certainly not the best builds as they were created in a hurry
